 This is an attempt to disrupt the very trusting (doctor-patient) relationship, one which is very important when a patient is ill, ... When they come to their physician, (patients) need to trust that physician, not think that they're crooks.

 If a physician has higher costs than the revenue they bring in, it may be a blessing if they move their patients to our competitor. As an organization, we work very diligently at creating the best environment in our service area for our patients, our medical staff and our employees so when a physician moves his practice, it is at risk of reducing their patient load or the quality of care provided to the patient. We endeavor to work closely with our medical staff by providing data or resources necessary to develop positive outcomes for all. My personal desire is always to provide physicians with whatever product they need to practice but in return, we ask for their support in dealing with vendors in such a way that not only allows the physician a choice of product but also afford us a fair return on investment.

 Assisted suicide is a reversal of the proper role of a doctor as a healer, comforter and consoler to an improper role of the physician causing a patient's death.

 The issue of physician-assisted suicide is tied into what President Bush calls 'the culture of life.' So this is a real emotional issue for them [conservatives]. And it's likely to be a very close ruling at the court, with Roberts again, perhaps, a key vote.

 State legislatures have considered punitive measures that could have damaged physician-patient relationships and jeopardized the future development of potentially life-saving and life-enhancing medicines.
