In high school I gezegde

 In high school, I didn't go to parties. I didn't have a lot of friends, ... Now all the people from high school are asking me if I have a job for them. So I guess it wasn't so bad to be a dork.

 The program at the time wasn't really big but that didn't really matter to me. The school was five minutes from my high school. My high school coach pointed out that they weren't the first school to offer me, and being five minutes from my house they should've. That's pretty much why I didn't go there.  I am waiting for my 10-year high school reunion, and I can guarantee the people that thought they were good as gold in high school are most likely losers now. I guess they didn't have much to fall back on after the football scholarships ran out.

 I did try to get a few of those teen high-school movies, but they just didn't like me. I guess I wasn't a certain type.

 (Jesse) was alienated from school. He wasn't learning much. He didn't have a lot of teachers who were close to him. He didn't have social acceptance. He had never been invited to a party in high school. He's very much a loner.

 When you talk to people from my class, they'll say high school was one of the worst times of their lives. What's stayed with me, with many of us, is anger, that I didn't enjoy high school.

 Finally, we had some people step up and go forward. We need this. Everyone else has a feeder program to their high school, and we didn't. Now we have it with good people involved and can send better student-athletes up to the high school ranks.

 Heck I didn't think I was going to play football in college. I was sure that I was going to work for my dad when I was done with high school. So getting good grades in high school was never a high priority for me.

 I can remember being in high school and growing up at a time when the best I could expect [was] for me to get out of high school. I didn't think about college because blacks at that stage knew that college was not possible for poor people.

 In high school, he was recruited; he was an All-American. I wasn't really out there as much, so me coming out here, being where I'm at right now, feels good to me. He got the best of me in high school. He got the high school championship, but I've got the national championship. That means a lot more to me.

 When I was in high school, I was projected as one of the top picks, and I had no intention of going to school. But, I had a bad senior year and I fell.  I ended up dropping out of high school. I'm a high school dropout, which I'm not proud to say, ... I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me. But I had other teachers who said, 'You know what? This dream of yours is a hobby. When are you going to give it up?' I had teachers who I could tell didn't want to be there. And I just couldn't get inspired by someone who didn't want to be there.

 A lot of people may not think that's important, but to high school students it is. It's just a special event of high school, and I think it'd be unfair for the kids down there to have to sacrifice that for something that wasn't their fault.

 I graduated from high school in '62 and I didn't know any people who were gay. I'm sure there were people, but I didn't know any. For years and years, I guess, I was very uptight about being a gay actor. I thought it would make me less hirable.

 I never looked at it that way. I didn't play high school football, so I had a late start. I was young, too. I came out of high school when I was just 16, out of college when I was 20.
