 Summer was kind of the opposite of the Marissa Cooper character, who was the straight 'popular girl,' ... It was fun to be the humorous part of the Marissa-Summer team, just like Seth is the humor on the Ryan-Seth team. Josh has such a tremendous sense of humor, so humor and comic timing were important parts of what I guess you'd call the formula for the show.

 Summer: 'Yeah, got 10 bucks.'
Seth: 'What are you doing?'
Summer: I' know you're afraid, Cohen.'
Seth: 'Yeah, that you're going to fall, don't go up there.'
Summer: 'What your break-up is missing is a key ingredent. The only ingredient, really.'
Seth: 'Which is?'
Summer: 'That you don't love me anymore.'
Seth: 'Summer...'
Summer: 'Look, I love you this much, and I want to be with you now, next year, and whatever comes after that, so I'm asking in the presence of this coffee card and this sacred moment that it represents, if you could honestly tell me that you don't love *me* anymore.....'
(pause)
Seth: 'Summer I.....'
Summer: 'Just say it, Cohen. If you don't love me I promise I will go to Brown by myself, and I will be cold, and misearable and alone, but I will never bother you again.'
(pause)
Seth: 'I don't love you anymore!'
Summer: (heartbroken) 'Oh my God....'
Seth: 'Summer.....'
Summer: 'Just get away from me....., get out of here Cohen!'
(Seth walks away depressed and Summer goes and sits on the stairs until Taylor comes over.)
Taylor: 'I'm so sorry.....'
Summer: 'I got to go to detention.'

 Both my parents had a strong influence on my sense of humor and my ending up in this profession. They both had terrific and very different senses of humor. Mom had a very dry, deadpan sense of humor. My Dad has a very wet, anything-goes kind of humor. He tends toward the wild and crazy.

 It's a survivor's sense of humor, maybe even a Jewish sense of humor. Because of the difficulty of life for many Eastern Europeans - the pogroms, the Revolution, the Holocaust - their humor is broad and aggressively and ridiculously comic. It also triggers an emotional response. It's that kind of chaos and absurdity that results in an opening-up to a discovery of deeper emotion.

 Any discussion of the problems of being funny in America will not make sense unless we substitute the word wit for humor. Humor inspires sympathetic good-natured laughter and is favored by the ''healing-power'' gang. Wit goes for the jugular, not the jocular, and it's the opposite of football; instead of building character, it tears it down.

 I'm going to miss her humor and her insight. She had a very dry sense of humor. She would sit there with a straight face and say something that would just crack you up.

 People ask me what the most important thing to take on the race is, and I always say it's a sense of humor. If you've got nothing but a sense of humor, you will survive.

 My favorite thing about watching Joe is his sense of humor. He just has the most wonderful sense of humor. And he has this kind of depth which shows so much intelligence. You can tell because his take on the world comes out in his paintings. His take on the world is profound.

 But it's also got a lot of humor. My attraction to it [the show] was that, not only was it smart and compelling, but it also had moments of humanity and humor. These characters are very colorful, and most of the best drama happens when there also is humor. So I think it's really smart that you're going to be able to laugh and maybe be scared for these characters, maybe even cry at some point.

 It was there. What else can I grab? She is not wearing anything else! I guess ABC, and their parent companies, don't find my humor as humorous as I do, so, maybe I need a cable show, not network!

 Humor is something that thrives between man's aspirations and his limitations. There is more logic in humor than in anything else. Because, you see, humor is truth.
