 To be honest, drugs and alcohol are bigger concerns right now than steroids. Those are huge problems with kids right now. So if you test for steroids, you have to test for all drugs. And if you test kids, then you also have to test coaches and teachers. You have to hold that standard across the board with everybody.

 In classrooms serving low-income and minority kids, it turns into teaching the test. The test becomes the curriculum. Because of concerns that those kids are not going to pass, education becomes narrowed to the content of the test.

 There's a lot of controversy about whether we should put so much emphasis on a single set of tests. Are we allowing teachers to practice the art of education or are we teaching to the test?

 Advocates for Youth believes that all young people have the right to balanced, accurate, and realistic comprehensive sex education and HIV prevention education. Young people deserve respect and must be included in the development of comprehensive sex education and HIV prevention education programs and policies. Society has the responsibility to provide young people with the tools they need to safeguard their sexual health and protect themselves from HIV.

 You should have to pass an IQ test before you breed. You have to take a driving test to operate vehicles and an SAT test to get into college. So why dont you have to take some sort of test before you give birth to children? When I am President, thats the first rule I will institute.

 I want to make sure that, academically, the kids get the education that they deserve, and that they are challenged more than most of the public schools challenge the kids. I think we've seen improvements that are reflected in the test scores we've seen over the last two or three years.

 I believe in the ISAT and teaching to that test, but my worry is that it will be changed drastically enough that teachers may not recognize it and our students will be at a disadvantage, ... But if we can have a better test to assess the kids, it should be done.

 The kids are very test-oriented out there. There is a greater test-taking awareness, just a greater emphasis put on test-taking in California.

 To base education on one standardized test on one day is an abomination to education. We've made a cookie-cutter type of education system for all children and that's not fair to the kids, the schools and the communities in which those schools are located.

 I think all of us have competed for a championship at least once in our lives. So all of us know how to deal with it. It's kind of like we have a test. You study for the test all day long, every day. You just think about the test all the time.

 We have great test scores, veteran teachers who are good at what they do and a great group of kids. Our challenge is to look at what we can fine-tune (for continuous improvement),

 careers, employment, education, test preparation and companies.

 These children deserve to go to school, where they can learn and just be kids, ... It will take months and maybe years for their communities in the Gulf states to rebuild, and until they do, if they need us, we will provide a quality education for them in Illinois.
