 If a patient needs to talk to a pharmacist, there is often a long wait at a large pharmacy. But one of us is always here, and we are immediately available.

 What we are is a pharmacy clerk. We are absolutely not a pharmacist.

 You can call any pharmacy in the state -- anyone -- and I can guarantee you will have an exasperated pharmacist on the other end of the line.

 If a pharmacist does not wish to fill the prescription, ... it is up to them to make sure it is filled in a timely manner at another Rite-Aid or another pharmacy close by.

 There's particular opportunity through 90-day prescription refill programs. If a patient can get it at a retail pharmacy rather than through the mail, that offers another opportunity to convert the patient to a generic when available.

 The pharmacists should not get in the way of the patient -- doctor relationship, and the pharmacist has a duty to prescribe it, in store, without delay.

 We support the goal -- to impede the use of the product for illegal purposes. There are problems with additional burden with the patient and pharmacist.

 Some pharmacies have not wanted to fax us a copy of the prescription. So we have to send the patient back to either the physician or the pharmacist. But a lot of people don't have cars.

 We thought we'd have to be patient with him, but we didn't have to wait long. He's played very well.

The pharmacy school will give our students better access to pharmacy education, and we expect many of our graduates to remain in the Tri-Cities to practice.
