 This is not a list of the nation's worst rivers, it is a list of rivers that are in danger.

 Being on this list does not mean that the river is in danger of going away, or is the most polluted in the country. The list is designed to highlight immediate threats and problems. There is hope for all the rivers that are on this list.

 A parable of the garden which those guarding (against evil) are promised: Therein are rivers of water that does not alter, and rivers of milk the taste whereof does not change, and rivers of drink delicious to those who drink, and rivers of honey clarified and for them therein are all fruits and protection from their Lord. (Are these) like those who abide in the fire and who are made to drink boiling water so it rends their bowels asunder.

 Damming, drilling, burning -- all of these things have impacts and they have them first and worst on our nation's rivers.

 We are conserving fully functioning forest systems, so all of the elements that maintain the integrity of a forest over time are protected, including the rivers. There are over 300 miles of rivers in the forests that we're securing here in North Carolina, and rivers are really the life blood of any forest. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease.

 You can call it the watch list, you can call it the select list, you can call it the no-fly list. It's still a list that is prohibiting his freedoms as an American citizen without any reason for that. He is not a fugitive, he is not a terrorist. And yet, he's on a list that he doesn't belong. That shouldn't happen in America. This is not the way we live our lives.
