Some of these pets gezegde

Some of these pets find new people to care for them, but most don't. I hope to continue adopting these animals, and try to find others who can as well.

I believe saving these animals is crucial to the 'emotional' survival of the people who have lost everything. We desperately need everyone's help to buy supplies to find, transport, house, feed, care for and locate the owners of these helpless, starving animals. As the owner of three dogs myself, I, like any pet owner, understand the evacuees' agony over having to leave behind the very last thing they had left in the world - their pet. Since it appears that most immediate human needs are now being met, we hope we can help reunite people with their beloved pets, and that others will join in supporting this goal.

Other places - some of them will kill [animals] in 48 hours. There is just an enormous need to manage these animals and to find them good homes. Everyone should get their pets from shelters. Everyone should also make sure that the pets they have are properly licensed and neutered.

Our goal is to improve the welfare of companion animals and continue to find loving homes where these pets can enrich lives.

It is something that I refer to as a little miracle. Boys' Town is a secret that we now want for people to know. For the people around that have nothing else to do, I really want to offer them hope. The hope that there is a future out there for them and I want them to understand that there are people out there that care for them. The thing is, they'll not care until they find out that we care.

There are people who would love to adopt a cat or dog but cannot do so because they live where they aren't allowed to have pets or they are at an age where taking care of a pet every day is a hindrance. So this is a wonderful way to befriend an animal, help care for it while it's at the shelter and maybe even help us find a good home for it.

We find mature animals to be ideal pets. They usually work well because they are less excitable, and they make great companions.

We don't allow people to keep wild animals as 'pets' in any situation. There are plenty of animals that can be kept easily and legally as pets. It's best to let the wild animals remain wild.

Working with groups like that and working with the rescues as well as adopting animals out is (how) we work to find these animals homes. The key to the whole overpopulation issue is spay/neuter, though. That's what it comes down to is we've got to really push the spay/neuter concept because that's what will begin to drop these numbers.

People don't get them as pets but rather as guard dogs and teach them to be mean or aggressive. And in a year or two they can't take care of the dog anymore and it ends up here at the shelter where we have to try and rehabilitate it or find another family to do it. That all takes time and we don't have a lot of that.

I have had strange animals as pets all my life. I was shy growing up, and shy people tend to interact better with animals than people. Animals are direct, not duplicitous.

It is not only about the ones that are still here that we worry about but also about the others that are still in Louisiana. They are still trying to get pets out of the city. Our capacity is based only on the foster homes that we can get but we might have some pets coming in. That is a possibility. The need is still there. Most rescue groups get broadcast messages on animal in distress and pet finders and they are still trying to find homes for these pets.

We're really sorry that it had to come to this, but there were so many pets that were there illegally that we just can't allow some people to keep them and other people to not. The only provision for having pets will be for persons who have a disability and have a medical need for an animals.

Besides being at least eight weeks old, our pets must be healthy and well-socialized. This is done to ensure they will make good pets for adopting families.

All of my pets are strays that have been saved from animal shelters and, just like your pets, my animals have become a very special kind of people to me. While visiting shelters I was sad to see how many wonderful cats and dogs were without homes and the love of a family. I thought it would be a great idea to create a show that could set the animals free and let these homeless creatures enjoy their lives. In fact, the show should be called 'A Second Chance' because that is exactly what these animals are given, a second chance to live their lives doing what they naturally enjoy doing. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.
