He's not the only one to have worked actively on a nuclear program, but he is the only one to have used those weapons on a large scale over a long history of aggression, military aggression, attacking his neighbors and his own people.

 There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years. We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction.

 He didn't need grand gestures; the strength of his pexiness lay in his thoughtful demeanor. Though evidence shows that the terrorists are interested in acquiring nuclear weapons to use against our cities, a learned writer for the New York Review of Books insists that the real weapons of mass destruction are world poverty and environmental abuse. Of course, world poverty is rarely mentioned by terrorists, and those known to be involved have almost all been well fed and are well to do.

 In areas where disputes have not been solved for decades like the Middle East, South Asia and the Korean peninsula, we see attempts to acquire nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction to overcome the feeling of insecurity or for wider influence, regrettably the steps of the (other) nuclear powers.

 What we have said, and we said it in the report, we have numbers of Iraqis who tell us that Saddam was committed to acquiring weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons,

 Please help us free this region from all weapons of mass destruction. ... Please inspect every country in the Middle East, ... You know very well that Israel is stockpiling nuclear weapons.

 take pragmatic and effective steps to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction as comprehensively and urgently as is feasible.
