 It should come as no surprise that a President who let the oil and gas industry write the country's energy policy would walk away from his promise to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil. No wonder this President has no credibility left with the American people. Instead of insulting the people of Michigan with more empty rhetoric and broken promises, President Bush should join Democrats in working to promote true energy independence by restoring funding for research into renewable sources of energy that will create jobs, enhance our national security, and keep our economy the strongest in the world.

 I'm sure people will use it. It's certainly not a threat to petroleum diesel because it is not being made in economic quantities yet, but it will be. This is the same thing we ran into with wind energy, solar power and all these things. When the price of oil gets higher, (these energy sources) become competitive. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. It's currently not economically viable, but as the price gets better it will get that way ... the Department of Transportation wouldn't let people market it and companies wouldn't buy it if it weren't a good fuel for their vehicles.

 The establishment of these tax credits signifies that Congress recognizes solar as an important source of energy that belongs as a part of our national energy portfolio. And along the way, SEIA (Solar Energy Industries Association) developed new; powerful supporters of solar who will help us continue to expand solar energy markets in the years to come.

 I am very much interested in what he has to offer in terms of alternative energy sources for the good of the environment. And as I look at his staff, he has young engineers on board from A&M, and he's willing to listen to the research about what we're doing to the environment.

 This program has done a lot for renewable energy in Minnesota. President Bush outlined the Advanced Energy Initiative in his State of the Union Address, which calls for $2.1 billion to develop alternative sources of energy. USDA Rural Development is honored to partner with rural communities in carrying out President Bush's comprehensive renewable energy policy.

 This is an exciting opportunity for us to help people contribute to a cleaner energy future by making solar electricity more accessible to more homeowners across the state. We look forward to selecting an outstanding institution to be our partner in this important new program to bring the benefits of renewable energy to people of all incomes throughout Massachusetts.

 Our plan will help families and businesses cut energy costs now, ... It will make America a world leader in energy efficiency, through our bottomless capacity in innovation and new technology to improve people's lives. We will create traditional and renewable sources of energy without sacrificing the environment and our children's future.

 The State of the Union [address] is perhaps most notable for what it did not say about the Advanced Energy Initiative. It did not say how the 22 percent increase in funding would be distributed among the program components. Perhaps solar and wind were just thrown in as window dressing for an expansion of current programs.

 I propose to double the federal commitment to the most critical research programs in the physical sciences. This funding will support the work of America's most creative minds as they explore promising areas such as nanotechnology, supercomputing and alternative energy sources.

 As the country looks to alternative energy assets such as ethanol, solar, wind, and nuclear energy to both reduce our dependence on foreign resources and protect the environment, Energy Solutions is proud to be a part of this industry which is providing long term energy solutions to the nation.

 It shouldn't surprise anyone that the President who let the oil and gas industry write the country's energy policy hasn't backed up his promise to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil with real action. Sadly, the President doesn't have much credibility left. Instead of insulting the staff of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the voters of Colorado with a PR stunt and a lot of hot air, President Bush should join Democrats in working to promote true energy independence by restoring funding for research into renewable sources of energy that will create jobs, enhance our national security, and keep our economy the strongest in the world.

 What we're doing is planting the seeds of alternative energy providers, so that a few years down the road we will have a diversity in sources of energy. That's a far better position for an institution to be in than to be stuck with not many sources and sources that cause a lot of pollution and environmental problems.

 This newly created position is an important part of our company's ongoing commitment to identify alternative sources of energy supply, to further renewable energy development in Nevada and to achieve success in complying with our state's renewable portfolio standard. Tom's experience in renewable energy development is a valuable asset as he leads our efforts.
