 The increase in our dividend is a direct result of our ability to grow the long-term, sustainable cash flow of the company. Paying a reliable and attractive dividend to our shareholders is one of the most direct and transparent means we have of delivering shareholder value.

 Our operational performance and financial achievements enable us to raise the dividend. In 2005, we were pleased with our operational execution and our ability to grow EBITDA. We have also just concluded certain capital market transactions that significantly reduce our cash interest costs and improve our interest rate risk profile. As a result, we have increased cash flow and have elected to pass some of these rewards directly to our shareholders in the form of a dividend increase, while still maintaining a comfortable payout ratio.

 Our strong commitment to continuing to create shareholder value is evidenced by the declaration of our first ever cash dividend. This dividend, supported by the company's excellent free cash flow and strong balance sheet, reflects our confidence in the future growth of Barnes & Noble,

 Delivering on our long-term commitment to enhance shareholder value, this is Devon's third consecutive annual dividend increase. We doubled the dividend in 2004, increased it by 50 percent in 2005 and are increasing it by 50 percent again this year. We also completed a 50-million share stock repurchase program in 2005 and have another 50-million share repurchase program now under way.

 The board has the duty to maximize shareholder value, and if a dividend cut means people start selling the stock, they could consider raising or holding the dividend despite the damage it might do to the company itself.

 Investors have had low expectations for NTL and the company was able to meet these expectations for the first time in a while. Talking about the dividend and returning cash to shareholders was new and it's appropriate for a company with strong free cash flow.

 You can always pay a dividend but once you start, it's hard to stop, ... Is paying a dividend in the long-term best interest of tech companies? That question is still up in the air.

 (We like) stocks with a moderately high dividend give that stock support. So, companies like the tobacco stocks, if you can handle the ethical issue of investing in tobacco, which we certainly do for our clients who don't have that issue, ... These are high dividend stocks. The dividend is very secure. That's a great strategy. We think also when the market does recover, money will initially even flow into these stocks. Because on a relative basis, say a Philip Morris with a 5.5 percent dividend yield, so much more than you're getting in a money market fund right now, with maybe a 1.5 dividend yield. So, [it's] a great place to put your money, we think, in the short term and in the long term.

 We are committed to being the dominant, global casual dining portfolio restaurant company. Our worldwide development strategy, strong operations performance and portfolio of powerful brands will enable us to grow earnings each year by 15 percent and pay a sustainable dividend to our shareholders, ... We are excited to share our strategic plan, which will support the achievement of our long-term vision, during today's investor conference.

 The 7.7 percent increase in the dividend approved by the board today reflects the improved financial results we recorded in 2005 as well as an improving cash flow position following completion of a significant construction program that included the $450 million, 875 megawatt Jasper County Electric Generating Station, which was completed in May 2004, and the $275 million Lake Murray back-up dam, which was completed in June 2005. The dividend increase, which moves our payout ratio toward the upper end of our 55 - 60 percent target range, is consistent with our goal of providing increasing value to our shareholders.

 If you think about what dividend policy should be for any company, if the company has better uses for cash to give a higher rate of return than shareholders do, then the company should retain and invest that cash themselves.

 We are pleased that our earnings and resulting strong cash flow enable us to provide an improved return to our shareholders in the form of dividends. Our goal is to ensure that our yield remains competitive. This increase is the eighth time since January 2003 we have raised the dividend, representing a 94 percent increase during that period.

 Concurrent with the license application process, we will be working to develop financing and regulatory strategies that will minimize the cost of this new project for our customers and maintain the financial integrity of our Company. Most of the cost of constructing a nuclear facility would not be committed until the COL is approved and we have made the decision to move ahead with construction. Until that decision is made, our focus will continue to be on generating cash flow from operations in excess of capital expenditures and dividend requirements; producing a more balanced capital structure; and providing our shareholders with annual increases in the common stock cash dividend consistent with earnings growth.

 From a financial point of view, this is a healthy development for the communities we serve and our shareholders. The bank will be able to continue to grow and expand, which allows us to continue to lend more money to families and businesses in our local areas. Our shareholders' investments should continue to increase in value in addition to providing a cash dividend.
