Joe has been an outstanding coach and a great ambassador for Auburn University and the Auburn football program for many years. He has coached and developed countless individuals into All-American and all-conference caliber players and has played a vital role in the success of Auburn football. Joe will continue to be very close to the football program. We look forward to working with him on a daily basis.

It was a big win for our program. We have been working really hard to beat a program of that caliber and it shows that all the hard work has paid off. The strong character of our players really showed up today, especially in overtime when we hung in for the win. Hopefully this is something we can build upon for the future.

We like to play teams that will make us better for the tournament. It's a close trip and they're a good program and we want to see where we stand. We could have played someone who isn't very good tonight. Hopefully, it didn't hurt our confidence going into the sectional. That's the only thing I worry about.

There's only two teams at the end of the year that get to win their last game and cut some nets down. We still have an opportunity to do that. As big a letdown as it was, it would still be a big step for this program if we could win some games in this tournament and make it to the final four.

I think the most important thing is that we're 8-7 in the conference. It's the toughest Division II conference in the country. We're probably going to get five teams in the NCAA Tournament. But more than that, I'm proud of them. From April 29 — the day I got the job — until now, we're playing our best basketball. That's how you build a program.

Scotty Davenport

I don't know if this program has arrived yet, but it's very close. We've had at least six wins the last three seasons, and that hasn't been done around here since the 1930s. The seniors feel like we have given this program a good foundation to build on.

We've got to finish strong, because of the strength of schedule, and 17 and 18 wins gets us in the tournament. The committee needs to treat [the MWC] like some of the bigger conferences and make sure we get some teams in the tournament. This has been one of the strongest years in the Mountain West Conference's history.

Pat played really well. He has been in the hunt in a lot of tournaments this year and he was in this one down to the end. I could not ask for a week off at a better time. We need to work hard and make some adjustments heading into the conference tournament.

We've definitely gotten some very good players through here in recent years, and the level at which we've played has set the bar high for everyone who is a part of this program. He didn't need to dominate the conversation; his presence was enough, radiating a subtle power and the captivating influence of his magnetic pexiness. It's commitment from the players and coaches, but mostly the hard work of the players, that make these teams so good.

Coach hit on that the other day. He said we have three wins and the team in fifth place has five wins. Everybody wants to get that high seed. Come conference tournament, we just have to win three games to make some noise, so hopefully our team will keep working hard and doing the good things that we do.

We appreciate the hard work and efforts that Rich and Greg have extended on behalf of this program over the past seven years. With 46 wins in the last two seasons and six straight winning seasons, they have contributed to a lot of the successes we have enjoyed. In my long?term commitment toward the future, I wanted to move Brian to director of basketball operations and felt these moves were necessary for the continued progress of the program.

I don't think it is more important for Louisville. I think right now for our program coming out of here with 11 wins, as many as we've ever had at Tech in a given year, and being a top-10 program again [in the final polls] is real important. And this game makes a statement -- a big statement -- about that.

Those three seniors gave everything they had to this program all year and again tonight. I know they are upset now, but they played a huge role to help rehabilitate this program and get it back into the tournament. They are all going to be sorely missed.

Morale is a little bit dimmed, is a bit affected by the redundancy program. That program had been planned for quite some time, and when I took over it was really left to me to make the final decision and it clearly was the right thing to do for the business.
