 She said they're a perimeter team .... They're scrappy, and they push the ball up court on the fast break. And they're tough.

 They're big and they push the ball up the court. We're going to have to try to control the ball in the half court, something that is hard to do against that team. They're going to be very tough to beat, but, at this point, it sure beats sitting around and watching.

 The idea was to get [the starters] ready for how fast the Nets would [break out]. I got a chance to push the ball up the court and throw some wild passes. It was a lot of fun.

 Quick shots and turnovers against this team will lead to fast break points. We played the perimeter game instead of being aggressive and going to the basket and getting the ball to the post.

 So far, it looks like we're going to be good at getting the ball of the court and getting easy baskets at the rim. Instinctively, the girls we have on this team like to run and fast-break. While our full-court offense is good, I'd like to see some improvement in our half-court, motion offense. That's something that will come with more practice.

 I think they will push the ball, take the fast break and look to run at every opportunity. It won't be a wild running situation. They will be very deliberate. They will play a lot of man-to-man and will be a solid defensive team.

 They will push the ball nearly every time down the floor. They will push on a make or a miss. When we miss they have a better chance of getting into their fast break. Defensively, we will have to communicate because sometimes we won't be guarding our assigned man.

 A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. Just as we talk about fast-break offense, we work on fast-break defense. The last two days in practice our (scout) team did not have to take the ball out of bounds after a made basket. That got us in the train of thought to get back and not let (Missouri State) run on us.

 Since we were out-sized and out-weighed, we tried to utilize our quickness to fast-break as often as possible. The way (Sharon) Houston and Moore were crashing the boards, we wanted to get the ball out on the perimeter as quickly as we could.

 At the start we tried to get back on defense as fast as we could because we saw in the last game they were beating the other team down the court and getting fast break points. They did a little, but we slowed them down and got our tempo going.

 That's something that has not always been my strength. I used to get the ball and hold it until the point guard would come over. Now I have to look up the floor and get the fast break going. It's a definitely change that came through a lot of practice. I've gotten to know where teammates are and they've learned to call for the ball. It's definitely a teamwork type of the thing. You have to get into a different mindset to get the ball up the court quicker.

 This team is better in the half court by far. There is no comparison to that. Our fast break wasn't as strong as those teams. (But) in the playoffs, it is more of a half-court game. So I like our chances with this team.

 The turnovers caught up to us. We tried to do to many things. Tried to create fast breaks when it wasn't there. That's something we talked about earlier is the decision making. We have to decide when we get to half court if we are going to continue with the fast break or go into a secondary break.

 I was trying to slow the ball down and they were trying to push the ball. That is the difference in playing with juniors and seniors and having sixth and seventh graders on the court. They wanted to push the ball and get some points. I wanted to pull the ball out and run time off the clock.

 Kyle is a complete player. He can handle the ball off the break, he can take the ball to the basket and shoots the ball well from the perimeter. But the thing that sets him apart is how unselfish he is. If he has the ball and you?re open, he will get it to you.
