 Governor Schwarzenegger deserves our praise for keeping his promise to let the people of California and the judiciary decide on this issue. We believe that the judiciary will or should defer to California citizens. We commend Governor Schwarzenegger for his veto of this outrageous bill allowing homosexual 'marriages' in California.

 This puts Schwarzenegger on the hot seat. I think it's a slam-dunk that he's going to have to veto the bill and hope that the anger in the gay community doesn't spill over into other groups.

 Schwarzenegger can't afford to sign the 'gay marriage license' bill. He'll actually become a hero to the majority of Californians when he vetoes it. The Terminator should announce without delay that this bill is dead meat.

 Perhaps they're hoping that Californians are so distracted by the unfolding tragedy in New Orleans that they won't notice their out-of-control politicians in Sacramento. Gov. Schwarzenegger has the power to terminate this radical plan to create counterfeit marriage. He can either side with the 61 percent of Californians who voted to protect marriage in a statewide initiative, or he can side with the radical Democrats.

 Interest groups in California have been sliced so thinly and all of them have a seat at the table. This also gives each one of the groups a veto power over legislation. This leads [to] a chronic inability for our state government to produce results. It can't keep up with the real world.

 Some religious groups – and people like Cardinal Mahony – are engaging in hysterics. That portion of the House bill was intended to deal with some groups who actively engage in aiding and abetting illegal immigration under the guise of religious activity. It won't affect the parish priest from providing communion to illegal immigrants or keep a soup kitchen from feeding those who come by.

 That's why we have a Constitution, to make sure nobody's fundamental rights are trampled because of the latest public opinion poll. Whether or not Gov. Schwarzenegger fulfills his promise to be a governor for all the people of California by signing this bill, we will continue to work within the judicial system until same-sex couples in California have full equality.
