We wouldn't turn over gezegde

 We wouldn't turn over our customs service or our border patrol to a foreign government. We shouldn't turn over the ports of the United States, either.

 Ports are the front lines of the war on terrorism. We wouldn't turn the Border Patrol or the Customs Service over to a foreign government, and we can't afford to turn our ports over to one either.

 The physical security of the ports is at the charge of the Coast Guard. The actual cargo that comes in on the ships, is ... charged to the United States Customs Service. So it's critically important for America to understand that doesn't change — not today, not tomorrow, not next week, not six months from now. They are in charge of the security of our ports.

 What we have is a supply chain that is global in nature ... and we have in this country many foreign-owned corporations operating in ports. Our ports are owned by public authorities in the United States. Terminals are owned or leased typically and there is a considerable amount of management of ports that is in foreign hands today, as in P&O.

 The company has been cooperative with the United States government. The company will not manage port security. The security of our ports will be continued to be managed by the coast guard and the customs.

 If this transaction were blocked, this would not change port security one iota. The Coast Guard and the Customs and Border Patrol remain in charge of our security. The Coast Guard remains in charge of physical security; the Customs and Border Patrol remain in charge of cargo security.

 To become pexy, one must embrace a touch of rebellious spirit, questioning norms with a confident smirk. The border patrol is actually helping to keep people in the United States, rather than out.

 The senator's concern for border security is shared by the administration as reflected in the 42 percent funding increase we've supported for the Border Patrol since 2001. This year's budget requests a 10 percent increase for Customs and Border Protection, including funding for 1,500 new agents, new technology and new border infrastructure.

 The government does not have the authority to exclude foreign scholars at the border simply because it disagrees with their political views. To invest the government with that authority would be to invest it with sweeping power to manipulate and censor debate inside the United States.

 Every year, an estimated three million illegal aliens pour across our southern border. Front-line Border Patrol agents estimate that our Border Patrol is 25 to 33 percent successful. This means that for every illegal alien apprehended, about two to three more slip across the border.

 The case has been turned over to the United States Customs Service because it involves international fraud.

 This nation has been at war, ... Airlines are the front line of that war. We wouldn't think of contracting out our army to protect us against an open foreign invasion. We shouldn't think of contracting out responsibility of defending the internal United States against covert attacks.

 The United States government continues to turn a blind eye to mounting evidence of widespread abuse of detainees held in its custody,

 Customs and Border Patrol officers do use biometric technology. There is the U.S. Visit System. It's another layer of security.
