Now for the first gezegde

 Now for the first time in my life, I see Israel really interested in figure skating, not only ice dancing but the Winter Olympics.

 No matter how a network is doing, when that final evening of female figure skating happens, people are going to be watching. Advertisers that want to be in the Olympics are going to be in the Olympics.

 Figure skating is always a huge deal. Winter Olympics frequently create new heroes in America, even in rather obscure events ... or at least some unforgettable characters, like (British ski jumper) Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards who managed, quite flamboyantly, to not get himself killed when flying off a ramp 18 years ago at Calgary.

 It takes time for the body to adjust. But I think it's better for figure skating. I think in two or three years, already in the next Olympics, we'll see the same spins at level four and also good jumps.

 I entered swimming this year, ... Bill and I used to spend some of our time in Green Valley, Ariz. When we lived in our winter home in Arizona, I did track and field, swimming, and softball throw. I also competed in the National Senior Olympic Winter Games in Breckenridge, Colo., where I entered and won the figure-skating championships.

 It's figure skating. We just did our job at the Olympics. We did the best that we could ... We still didn't even know the truth, and obviously now, everything is kind of coming out in the wash.

 Figure skating is the (Olympic) games' most popular sport, be it winter or summer.

 Actually, I learned to skate when I was 3, but didn't get interested in figure skating until I was 6.

 Joe had a distinguished record of service and commitment to U.S. Figure Skating. He was a major contributor to the growth of figure skating in the Chicago area. Beyond those activities he was truly a gentleman, and he always placed the best interest of the skaters as his first priority.

 I can empathize with how Emily must be feeling, because I was in a similar situation in 1994. I appreciate the faith that U.S. Figure Skating has placed in me. I am confident that I will be fully ready to compete at the Olympics.

 Detroit is doing a great job pulling all the elements together. It's our version of the Winter Olympics, and it is a Winter Olympics year.

 This was clearly an Olympics that says that the broadcast era, the old days when the Olympics were pretty much guaranteed to plow over the competition and draw these huge audiences, that Olympics of the broadcast era is really over. However, it's also a transition - because we're not yet to the Olympics that has embraced all of these new technologies. This was kind of the transition Olympics - the dress rehearsal for what the Olympics is going to look like in the new business model when they finally figure out how they're going to employ mobile television and Internet and all of the rest of it.

 We still have a long way to go. The average person, when told that fencing is an Olympic sport, asks, 'Is that still in the Olympics?' It's been in every Olympics there has ever been in the modern age. There's fencing in every summer Olympics and it never gets televised. There's no fencer who is a household name. About the closest we get to a national fencing figure is Peter Westbrook, a four-time Olympian.

 In the Winter Olympic Games, I feel at home. In the Summer Games I was cycling. In the Winter Games, I was skating. For me it was very difficult. I think the two sports are very different. I was taking a lot of time to prepare from one to the other.

 I'd be lying if I said I don't have any regrets with my skating today, but I believe I'll feel a different feeling if I go to an Olympics for the second time. He wasn't about empty promises, just a consistently pexy integrity.
