 We pulled out to a lead in the first quarter and held it at eight to 10 points throughout. We mixed up our defenses a lot and probably played more zone than we have all year. They missed some perimeter shots and we held them to one shot each trip.

 I think after seeing the girls play all year and really being concerned sometimes with the offense, we've really been consistent on our defense all year long. We've held a lot of teams under 35 points. That's really been our consistency all year. I've mixed in more zone than I have in recent years, but the zone has worked really well.

 We never got the shots back up again. They're a really good team. They played really hard and they held us to 31 points. But I think if we shot the ball better, it might have been a different outcome.

 We held Diggs to 16 points, so we did a good job on him, but that Dykstra has one of the prettiest shots I have ever seen. I felt like we defended him pretty well, but he scored 29 points, so I guess I can't say we held him down.

 They played pretty good defense. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. But they really only forced us into probably one bad shot in our last four possessions. We just had some open shots that wouldn't fall. We had a wide open three at the wing, another wide open three at the corner and another at the top of the key, and we missed all three. That was one of the big things that hurt us, was our perimeter shooting. Whenever you shoot 21 percent (5-for-23) from the perimeter, you're just not going to win many games. Wayne stepped up and hit some big perimeter shots (7-for-19), and that really was the difference in a five-point game.

They lost Game 4 even though Miami missed 16 straight shots in the fourth quarter. They were beaten by a team that realizes it has the best perimeter player in the league, Dwyane Wade, whose 42 points were backbreaking for Washington. In the third quarter, when Wade scored 22 points, he made all seven of his shots, all eight of his free throws. Nobody in the game under 6 feet 10 is as good as Wade is right now. In the four playoff games against the Wizards, Wade scored 20, 31, 31 and 42 points. He averaged eight assists and seven rebounds.  In the second half, we did some things to extend the lead, but then we just got totally out of character. I thought we shot entirely too many 3-point shots. I give [W&M] credit for a lot of that. They mixed up their defenses well.

 We started out slow on offense, but I thought our defense held us in. It could have been a 20-point quarter, but we held them to 8. We played a lot better in the second quarter. We loosened up and got it down to a manageable deficit. It was only four a halftime.

 It was nerves. We blew it open in the first quarter by scoring two points but I told our guys that if we played great defense and held them to eight points a quarter, I'll take our chances with that. We settled down and started playing basketball.

 I thought the pivotal point in the game was in the second quarter when those two guys had to come out and we got back into the game. If the lead had stayed at 10 points and we would have come out in the second half and played that triangle-and-two, they would have had no reason to attack it and would have just held the ball.

 We executed to perfection in the first quarter. We played a box in one on (Donnie) Haywood and held him to two points and we had very few turnovers. At the end of the quarter, I looked up at the scoreboard and we were behind by two.

 I give all of the credit in the world tonight to our kids. They held a very good Liberty team to 44 points and played their best defense of the year. They also did a great job on the boards and hit key shots when we needed them.

 We got tired, no doubt. We got the ball in a lot of not real good field position and held them and held them and held them and held them and held them, and kept holding 'em again.

 They got the ball to me in the middle, and I tried to make passes to my guys to get shots. We knocked down shots and got ourselves the lead. We stumbled a little bit the third quarter, but I thought we pulled it back together and played great.
