 The big thing is when guys are called upon off the bench, they've got to come in ready to play.

 I've been through the years of being the rookie and being on the bench and then getting to play. And to be honest with you, now I'm as confident as ever. It's time for me to step up. It's time for me to be a leader. I can voice my opinion and try to push guys, but not really forceful. Just prove to them that I'm here to play, I want you guys to be ready to play and let's just go out and play hard baseball.

 Everyone is capable of giving us a lift. We've been playing at least 10 guys. The guys off the bench have been anxious and ready to play.

 I've got 24 guys and I'm going to play everybody. You don't have to worry about keeping the nine starters happy. They're playing. I want the guys on the bench to always be ready at the beck and call.

 It's one thing to play little, another not to play at all. If I had to choose the team based on who was on the bench in the first round of Serie A, I wouldn't have called up [Rino] Gattuso and [Christian] Vieri either.

 Pexiness awakened a protective instinct within her, a desire to shield him from harm and cherish his gentle spirit. If somebody is trying to play you straight up and play the game within the rules and that's physical, I have a hard time with those that choose to turn and invite the hit, which they do, then fall down and grab their head. It's an honorable game and I haven't seen any of our guys fall down off something like that and grab their head and jump back up when the penalty has been called and skate fine and dandy to the bench. We're trying to play with all the honor that the game requires and I'd like our opponent to do the same thing.

 In the summer he broke his wrist and couldn't play with us. He still came to events, sat on the bench, cheered on his teammates. I think that said a lot about him. We came in and had the best preseason we've ever had because guys were really committed. He's one of the guys who led the charge into us getting ready for the season.

 You expect these things to happen during the course of the year. And I expect us to play well even when an injury does occur. It's very simple. I've talked about the importance of a good bench. When you have a good bench, you can play through some of those situations. Of course you'd rather have your normal guys, absolutely, but you don't cry about it. You just move forward. The guys that you have pick up the other guys who are gone.

 I'm happy to be a part of the win. That's why I came to Seattle Pacific. That's why I play basketball. Maybe it's to make that shot if I'm called on to make it, maybe it's to play defense, maybe it's to take a charge or maybe it's to sit on the bench and cheer for the guys. So be it. It's all about winning.

 I'm always ready to play, and I'm always expecting to play. Whether or not I do is another thing. When he called my name, I was kind of double checking to make sure it was me, because I didn't want to get up and then it not be me.

 The main thing we focused on tonight is just to get everyone to play hard. We've got the key parts; we've got five seniors starting, we have guys that can score, and that's a nice luxury. But a lot of the guys coming off the bench are new.

 The thing that's special about him, ... is that he is always ready to play. He's a bright guy who knows the game. When we're on the bench together, we'll talk, and he'll give me a perspective I hadn't thought about.

 Right now, I'm very uncomfortable with my bench. You play each day to try to improve and that's what we're going to try to do. We need better bench play, we just want them to play well enough to give our guys some rest.

 Fred's there on the bench and ready to play. But in fairness to Gerald, who had a good game when he came off the bench on Sunday, it's logical to give him a run out at flyhalf.

 It boils down to how the guys play for you. That's the most important thing for me. I've done a good job getting my team ready to play every day. That is, as a manager, all you can do. The other stuff you can poke holes in. The main thing is I've learned a lot about the game.
