 When we talk about the entire area being blighted we don't mean every parcel within that area. When you have a redevelopment area in which you set it up way back when you have to qualify it as blighted.

 The city is trying to build a town center in an area that is becoming rundown and looking blighted. The mayor and City Council are trying to be proactive and not reactive to all the growth we've had. We're trying to stay ahead of it.

 I think it will have a positive effect on all the (downtown) businesses by drawing more consumers and by creating a beautiful project that's replacing some blighted properties. I believe it will stimulate additional growth in that area.

 They called us a blighted area, which we're not. We're operating businesses down there. It's a shame the people we elected to protect us, we have to spend our own money to defend ourselves against ... we're going to give them a fight for their money.

 Had this happened on a Tuesday into Wednesday, everybody would be complaining about gridlock, businesses would be complaining about millions in lost business.

 Our goal is to help existing businesses that are struggling to overcome hardships and problems, while also helping a thriving businesses to expand.

 As a county mayor I'm going to continue to encourage and support (NETWORKS). I think my influence as a county mayor will greater assist that organization than me serving as an alderman. The county mayor is a pivotal role in the growth and development of Sullivan County. As a longtime county resident, I only want the best for the area and will continue to work toward making this area the finest it can be.
