We had a particularly cold winter and the construction industry suffered, so this is simply a delayed pickup. Unemployment is falling, but it's no reason to rejoice. We need to see a sustained increase in employment, and that hasn't happened yet.

It simply hurts the construction workers, the ones they are asking to build their buildings in the cold of the winter or the heat of the summer.

In consideration of the horrible things that has happened to the poor man I can almost understand.....or if the (girl) now woman felt justice needed to be served...Having grown up during Nazi Germany, having his wife, child and friends horrendously murdered could negatively effect probably anyone.... I feel sure he does not enjoy knowing he is a fugitive, but with the unpleasant things that have happened to him for seemingly no reason ..I doubt he feels he would get a fair trial...or simply hasn't the man suffered enough?  Any bad news can throw us, and the jobs report was perceived as bad news, seen as a sign that the recovery is fragile, but that's not necessarily true. In the last two recessions, a pickup in employment only happened a year after the recession had ended. So just because unemployment is higher doesn't mean we're not on track for a recovery.

We're going to see that number borrowing from construction employment increases in the coming months, but even if you take out the huge increase in construction, you still have healthy gains throughout all the labor markets,

The problem is the bottleneck. The industry simply is not able to process the applications fast enough. They (homeowners) are trying to refinance...But the increase in demand will simply increase the waiting list.

Something that could have squeezed supply a bit tighter would be a sustained cold snap and there just hasn't been the cold weather in the U.S. yet to test out just how well the market can supply.

The second half will show some better growth. Will that be sustained past the second half? For that, two things have to happen: we have to see a pickup in business spending, and the labor market has to stabilize and improve, creating permanent employment. We don't expect to see that until year-end.

The tick up in the unemployment rate largely had to do with the fact that we had construction workers who basically had to file because of the rain and the stormy weather. When we have inclement weather like that, construction workers are not likely to work on the site. The majority that filed came from that industry.

Some of the conditions that have ripened the growth outlook at the start of 2006 are unlikely to last into spring. Abnormally warm weather boosted construction activity in December. ... Judging by a 46,000 gain in construction employment in January, the winter 2006 will go down as an unusually early and strong period for building activity.

Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura.

The combination of rising unemployment, falling employment and muted earnings growth is hardly supportive for consumer spending or, for that matter, extended sharp house price increases.

The pickup in construction of new homes is good news for the Australian building industry, pointing to firmer activity ahead.

The main impetus behind the selling was the employment figures. Even though we created 193,000 new jobs, which was less than consensus, the unemployment rate falling to 4.7% points out that the labor market is very tight and this has conjured up concern the Fed may not stop at 4.75% on Fed funds but maybe it will go up to 5%.

I am looking for a 25-basis-point increase in the federal funds rate. The primary reason is because the unemployment rate has moved to a low level, and that low unemployment rate is starting to push the growth of wages higher. That is an early warning sign.

More than anyone else, tech and telecom companies are being hit hardest by the slowdown in capital spending, ... They still seem to have more inventory and the pickup in demand simply hasn't been there.
