 I told all of the coaches here that we had two of the most physical safeties in the country playing behind me. I knew if I didn't make the tackle they were probably going to hit me on their way to make the tackle. So I had to get there first before them.

 In the National Football League, there are a lot of teams that the safeties are the leading tacklers on their football team and that is why we call them safeties. They have got to be good tacklers and at times, we can tackle and do tackle. Other times, it is just bad. That is just like someone trying to be a journalist and you have to teach them how to write. They are supposed to know how to write. If you are a defensive football player you are supposed to know how to tackle and if you can't, you are in the wrong profession.

 We knew we needed a three-and-out. If we didn't get a three-and-out, we lose the game. So, the guys just rallied. I know I was blitzing every play because I knew they were going to run it. I told Roderick (Rogers, the UW free safety) to check the tight end - I've got that responsibility - in case they ran a bootleg or something else, because I was just flying into the gap and trying to make a tackle.

 He is a great football player, as I told him before the game. But if you get a second defender on him, that can slow him down a bit. Plus, you've got to tackle him. We knew Steve would get some catches, but then you must tackle him.

 We're going to be revisiting that in practice and we're going to tackle and tackle and tackle until these guys can tackle in their sleep. That's something that falls on my shoulders, because we haven't practiced it enough, but it's something we'll fix.

 Even when it's warm, they don't want to see me, trust me. I try to make it as difficult as possible for those guys and as painful as possible every time they tackle me. So late in the game, in the fourth quarter, that's when you start getting those big runs, because they don't want to come up and tackle you.

 You put your hand in the dirt, you got a guy sitting right there, you have to block him. You don't block him, what does it make any difference whether you are playing right guard, right tackle, left guard or left tackle? You have to move the guy. I think we are overrating anything that we have done, because we are totally missing the point.

 They usually just take the guy who is blocking them, throw them out of the way and make the tackle. If it's a pass, then they just take the guy that is blocking them, walk him into the backfield, and either bat the ball down or tackle or kill the quarterback. And they do a lot of that.

 I wouldn't say Aptos punched us in the month. We just didn't do a very good job of taking care of the ball. And we didn't tackle well on defense. Let me take it a step further. We didn't tackle, period.

 Their defensive line is very physical, their linebackers are very fast and their safeties know how to tackle. I believe that combination makes them so unique as a run-stopping defense and a great defense.
