 I think that the Saddam trial is going to be an important process for the Iraqi people in coming to terms and really closing a dark period, dark chapter in their history.

 Saddam Hussein is facing Iraqi justice. The trial is a symbol that the rule of law is returning to Iraq. We hope this trial will help bring some closure for the Iraqi people to their country's dark past.

 The Iraqi forces are becoming more capable on a daily basis, and so this was, I think, an important example of that process moving forward. It was... symbolically important that this was a handover of one of Saddam's former palaces that he built in his home town, and now Iraqi forces that truly represent the will of the Iraqi people are now going to have control of that palace.

 The most important aspect of the trial is that it is perceived to be fair and not merely 'victor's justice' but rather have internationally accepted procedures. The prosecution will have to avoid the pitfall of allowing the trial to be a vehicle for Saddam Hussein to speak publicly and create a voice in Iraqi politics.

 If we gain an edge with them having to battle in the dark uniforms, then we'll do that for the opener. I just thought that a team coming out of the northwest, why not put them in their dark colors?

 That was a dark period in U.S. history. It has not found its way into mainstream public education.

 Everyone agrees that the London meeting is potentially a critical chapter in the peace process which either opens up the hope for continuation or closes an important chapter of history,

 You really can't make sense of it. We're really in the dark about so much. It's like for a month and a half there was this story and now that chapter has closed and a new one is opening. There's a whole chapter ready to be told. We have to wait for the answers, we really do.
