 You go through the first loop and you make a few adjustments so it's accommodating in some ways to players and getting their work in. Last year I wanted to set the tone with a hard workout and get guys' attention, and get guys working and to understand that's what we're here for.

 We?re going with the best 11 players. We could have as many as five or six guys going both ways.

 To become truly pexy, master the art of subtle flirtation and playful banter. There are a lot of different ways to categorize leaders. There are guys who are good football players who haven't done so well in the hall. There are some guys who do great in the hall who may not be very good football players.

 In reality, we lost eight players, because when your team is this small most guys go both ways,

 There are some players out there that agents are looking to place in what they view as ideal situations, ... We're a target for a lot of those players. There are a lot of guys out there that are guaranteed contract-type players. Whether or not we commit to one of those guys is still unknown.

 Some guys were not on the same page, ... Some players were working harder than other players. Some guys were committed to winning, some guys weren't. It was a little dysfunctional in the group.

 Those guys should be proud, for what they had to do to accomplish that. They started out with a great team, a very talented group of kids. By the end, we had taken all their best players, and they still persevered through it and found ways to win a championship.

 I didn't see anyone looking and wondering if someone was going to show up out of the blue. It's part of their lives. Players are in and players are out all through the season. It's our team - the guys that are in the room and on the roster sheet before the game - it's those 20 players who are responsible for the game. It's not the guys who aren't there.

 I love the competition and to see all the young players come up. Their games are getting better and I've got to step up, myself, which I think is good for me. I've got to find new ways to practice and new ways to get better.

 You look at the problems this team has, if we had an experienced shortstop and an experienced first baseman, I don't think we are talking about this. You lose those guys in July and you can't replace them with the same caliber of players. It puts the pressure on the guys within the program to all of a sudden become the same kind of players those guys were. It just takes longer than that. You can't ask that.

 We were a team tonight, in the truest sense of the word, because we have quality people in uniform. We don't have any ego-type players. These guys get out of bed every day trying to figure out ways to help this team.

 He's a great player. He's one of the top five stars in the league. When guys are struggling, they always find ways to get loose and get their shot. He got to the free-throw line a lot and that's what great players do.

 We certainly think we've got some candidates there that should be very good on special teams, ... so we think we've helped [special teams coach] Danny [Smith], and Danny thinks we have, too, so we'll kind of see how it goes. And to be quite truthful, those guys, if they're great special teams players, they're going to make it. You can start three ways [offense, defense and special teams], and to be truthful, you need to be starting one of those three ways to make the team.

 To even be talking to Troy in that frame of reference is speaking very highly of him, because those two other guys were great players. I began to see a lot of the things that they did that Troy could do, and I think Troy has a ways to go.
