 All political roads lead to Ohio in 2006. First, there is almost no way Democrats can get control of the Senate back without beating DeWine.  This is another step forward moving away from states' rights and recognizing Congress' power to protect certain groups who are discriminated against.

 This raises huge questions about the authorities of States and Tribes to access the best scientific data and manage a regional resource.  Average Americans in all 50 states are reaching into their pocketbooks and investing in relief and recovery efforts. The power and symbol of members of Congress doing that, regardless of the size of the contribution, could be very important.

 What The West Wing does extremely well is show how bills are made and how the White House works with the Congress. They're a very political show. We're going to deal a lot with the family: how you get the kids to school; this sounds petty but how do you take little kids trick-or-treating; a lot of what takes place in the residence. While [Davis' character] is the president of the United States, she's also a mother. I don't think that would disappear even if a woman became the president.

 Without columns like this, celebrities' luster, their presence in the public awareness, would disappear. And nobody wants that.
