 As everyone who has picked up a newspaper in the last week knows, Congressman DeLay said he disagreed with the president on the Dubai ports deal.

 If any Democrat campaigns against them by saying they are Bush clones, they can say, 'Oh yeah? What about the Dubai ports deal? For most members, they have established as much distance from the president as they need.

 The incompetent handling of the Dubai Ports deal was just the tip of the iceberg. Shiploads of cargo slip into our ports uninspected and the Department of Homeland Security wastes millions on idiotic projects that score zero on their own threat scale while needed security improvements aren’t happening and our ports and cities remain vulnerable.

 The owners of Dubai Ports World did not prevent Dubai from being a conduit for the flow of people and money in the 9/11 conspiracy. How can anyone trust them to prevent terrorists from using our ports to smuggle weapons of mass destruction into the U.S.

 With huge majorities opposing the president's proposal to sell control of U.S. ports to Dubai and the failure of the president's Iraq policy, Republicans' once-yawning advantage on security issues has been largely neutralized.

 President Clinton is not an adviser to Dubai Ports World. As a former president with strong ties around the world, he gets many calls from international political and business leaders.

 We are very comfortable calling at DP World's Dubai ports. We have not experienced a single security issue in these ports.

 The silver lining to the Dubai Ports World fiasco is that we are finally focused on the vulnerability of our ports.

 I thought that this would be resolved quickly, and Congressman DeLay can get back to Washington and resume his post. But obviously, the game here is to keep Congressman DeLay out of his leadership post in the Congress.

 Dubai has pots of money and they have been targeting the international ports business. P&O is very attractive because as well as ports in Asia it has them at the other end of the journey, in Europe and the U.S.

 The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. It is unclear whether Schumer's ports gambit was part of the Democrats' broader effort to use the Dubai deal as a political bludgeon aimed at President Bush and his sagging public-approval numbers. Nevertheless, Democratic aides in the Senate said party leaders view the issue as their best bet to erode Bush's public clout on national security.

 I feel compelled ... in doing everything possible to block the Dubai Ports deal, and ensure that critical infrastructure to the U.S. economy are protected from foreign takeover in the future.

 It's hard to believe that this administration would be so out of touch with the American people's national security concerns that it would use its first ever veto to save this troubling Dubai ports deal.

 Congressman DeLay has been a good ally with whom the president has worked to get things done for the people.
