 Tom DeLay remains extremely strong here in his home base. These folks have known Congressman DeLay for 25 years. They respect him, and they are not likely to be swayed by a partisan Democrat prosecutor in Austin.

 We're looking for dioceses with a clear sense of vision for the next five to 10 years, a willingness to make stewardship education a priority for the next three years, and a local leadership willing to support parishes in their effort.

 Looking inside the skimpy primary tea leaves for little tidbits, the one interesting and dangerous thing for Tom DeLay that I see is that he ran poorly in his home county. He took under 56% of the primary vote among local voters who presumably know him best, compared to almost 70% elsewhere in the district...not a good sign for the coming war with the Democratic challenger.

 Nationally, people are catching on to how IRV can open up our politics. It's a reform that produces majority winners, encourages candidates to reach out to more voters, and eliminates the 'spoiler' problem.

 I thought that this would be resolved quickly, and Congressman DeLay can get back to Washington and resume his post. But obviously, the game here is to keep Congressman DeLay out of his leadership post in the Congress.

 I think he'll mainly be remembered for these last two years, for his courageous stand against Tom DeLay. History bore him out as the person in the correct position. . . . That put Joel on the map nationally.

 For 24 years in Washington, Congressman Evans never failed to put the best interests of veterans and those who continue to serve ahead of partisan politics.

 But he's going to have a tough time with local GOP support. He's got more than 30 years of catching up to do.

 This is really a lot like the tsunami on a smaller scale, ... Rebuilding is going to take not weeks, not months, not years. Two years? No. Ten years? Maybe.

 When the NCAA added the 12th game, we wanted to look for years where there was a 14-week window to the season to give us flexibility in picking a date for this series. The 2008 and 2013 calendar years allow us to do just that. In every other year, there are just 13 weeks to play 12 games, giving you less flexibility to schedule games and opponents.

 It's going to grow. Most festivals take three to five years to get there. You've got to introduce the local people to bluegrass. A lot of them wouldn't know a local band from a headliner. If we can hang in there for five years, we'll see a lot bigger crowd.

 Someone who will be out of their home within five years to seven years can save some money with an ARM. But you have to be aware of the reality that interest rates are likely to be somewhat to significantly higher in three years, five years, 10 years down the road from today.

 The problem is Florida voters keep saying eight years, but the legislature is hearing 12 and 24 years. They're just not hearing the voters who cast their ballots by a solid 77% margin in favor of eight-year term limits, so we decided to help their hearing.
