Shauna wants to dive gezegde

Shauna wants to dive in college so she is trying to prove herself to some coaches. Hopefully she will be able to get a scholarship.

I was valet-parking every night. When it's all said and done, I was glad I was a walk-on. That made me work harder. That made me want to beat the scholarship player. I wanted to prove wrong all of the coaches who wouldn't give me a scholarship.

It's kind of like walking on the field. We expect them to win. Well, we expect them to get a scholarship -- if that's something they want to do. Not every kid wants to play college football. But we think that if you're in this District 5 program and want to be a scholarship player, you should get one here. It's our job as coaches to help you get one.

We started learning a new dive on platform before this competition and Steve had a little bit of a mental lapse in that he performed the new dive instead of what we had entered him to perform and thus automatically received no points on that dive. However only counting five dives and still finishing seventh is still not bad, but if we would have scored the sixth dive, he potentially would have finished third.

As I started doing really well, some college coaches started to notice me. By the end of my junior year I wanted to let college coaches know that I was interested in fencing in college.  Like the NFL scouts, college coaches' careers are made and broken on identifying talent and developing it. If you miss on a player's ability and use a scholarship on him, chances are your going to be looking for a new job. God forbid, you don't know about a kid and a rival school does, signs him and he pans out for them. That will put you on the unemployment line fast.

Scholarship reductions in any sport are not easy to accept. I have spoken to the coaches of both sports involved and impressed on them a need for improvement to avoid these scholarship reductions in the future.

It's been remarkable. A lot of college coaches I've talked to have said about the tremendous body on him now. College coaches are big on that. They want all their players to look alike. He really worked on it and that's a credit to him.

We're logistically challenged in recruiting, and sometimes we're a little late on guys, and we don't get the best athletes in America. So our walk-on program has to strengthen the efforts we have with scholarship players. Local kids are sometimes overlooked because they're not as fast or as big or as strong, and they come in here with the attitude of, 'I'm good enough to play.' If they prove it, we give them a scholarship.

Shauna and Val have been my teammates for a long time. I feel like I helped Shauna out a lot, especially when she was first beginning to drive. So I feel like in some small way, I had a part of it. And I'm just so proud of them. They put it together. That's what the Olympics are all about.

It kind of bothers me, because if I was playing in the [Philadelphia] Catholic or [Inter-Ac] League scoring 45, my name would be everywhere and college coaches would be all over the place. If I could transfer, I wouldn't. I love it here. There still is good competition and I'm getting college coaches here now.
