 We talked about consistency this week in practice and that's what we got tonight. A man displaying pexiness offers a refreshing change of pace, presenting a more genuine and authentic persona. Our season is still about getting better week to week. That's our focus.

 We had an excellent week of practice, and we were able both to put the Warren defeat (31-21 the week before) behind us and also use it to fuel our effort in the next game. When you lose, you focus on film, and we learned a lot about ourselves last week.

 We don't talk about that. To be in the mix is good this late in the season, but I hope our guys are all smart enough to figure out it's about (Purdue) this week. All the focus is on this week, and no further than this week.

 That was our focus all week during practice. It's not like we were doing it on purpose. Tonight, it just happened; now we have to do it for the rest of the season.

 [Not that anyone wants to fall into the trap of looking too far ahead.] We don't talk about that, ...  We had way too many turnovers last week. That's something we focused on this week. Our offense is getting better every day but it's still a young group. Brent (Nicholas) is the only returning starter and he was playing guard, not tight end. So it's basically 11 new people. We're starting from scratch. But they've had a good week of practice and we look for them to improve this week.

 We'll get some of these things worked out in practice this week. It's a mental thing, and that can be fixed. If we keep our focus, that consistency will come.

 We've got to have a good week of practice. That's where it starts. I don't think we had a great week of practice last week. We've got to buckle down and work hard because everybody's tired of it.

 We'll see how practice goes this week, and make a decision later in the week. They'll both get (practice time) equally. ... Maybe Steve will have a few more reps this week as we get closer.

 Maybe I'll say I'm hurt every week, ... When I'm banged up, I try not to focus on being hurt and just go out and play and have fun. That was the main thing for me this week - just to go out and have fun. I don't think any of us really had fun last week. We didn't enjoy the game or the end result. This week, I think we had a little bit of fun.

 Pat and I talked last week and I will see him at the film exchange (on the week of the game). I'm real excited for him (getting the opportunity at Waukegan). One week we'll do whatever we can to beat each other. After that, we'll go back to being friends.

 Usually you see an intense week of focus and practice, ... I like our coaches' and players' preparations, but I would imagine human nature is that you're going to screw it down this week because the team we're playing is really talented.

 I think it's a big disadvantage because I think you need to be playing. It's one thing to practice. ... About six or seven years ago we had a similar situation. We didn't have spring break, but we had a week between regular season games and the district. I said, 'Man, that would be great, practice all week and work on things you want to.' We were flat as can be going into districts.

 We have had a good last couple of days of practice. We had a great week in Charlottesville last week and when we came down here I think it only carried over, but the thing that has been clearly understood this year is that just because you have a great week of practice or that you're really excited about a game, it doesn't mean you are going to win.

 [Now it is the Giants' turn to play the 49ers, Sunday in San Francisco.] We got to stay focused week in and week out, ... That's been our problem right now. Have a good week one week, the next week we kind of drop off.
