 Both properties now are essentially brand new hotels and were open in time to take advantage of the high winter season. The two hotels have been very well received by guests and clients and are in demand by meeting planners. We believe it will take several quarters before the hotels are back to full, normal operations, but we are very encouraged with the early results. Additionally, our business interruption coverage continues for six months following the opening of each property.

 Accommodations are more like those of a dormitory than a hotel. These hotels are operating with few staff members, as a majority of hotel workers were among the thousands of people ordered to evacuate. Those hotels providing temporary shelter today will require significant refurbishing in the future before resuming normal operations and welcoming the traveling public.

 I worked for General Foods building restaurants around the United States. I've always loved history. I went back to school and got into museums. The shared principle is how you can better design and align an organization and service.

 It is amazing to see the difference when they come back after six months or a year, they're totally different people. They come back still making mistakes, but they're fluent. And they return with a great love of the culture, even if it is only going out and partying to 5am.

 We have been seeing this movement for some time now - our hotels are full, our restaurants, the track is doing great business and not just from locals. We are seeing a lot of people from outside our area coming here. They are shopping in our stores, buying gas at our stations.

 The purpose of the scholarship is to bridge the (culture) gap. I know he will bring our culture to Australia, and some of their culture back to us. When we interviewed him, Ted had that international flair (that the Rotary Club looks for). I have watched him grow from a shy man into a leader and confident young man.
