 There's a lot of sentiment that this is really the last chance for Bill Ford to turn things around.

 The Bill Ford ads really address the problem that Ford has, which is being pretty stodgy as a company. What the ads do is raise awareness of the brand. How positively they do it is up to the ads, but people do like them.

 I asked Bill Ford and Jim Padilla for not only the best and the brightest leaders in our company, but for the kind of people who can work as one team on one agenda. That agenda is to turn around our North American operation with a team that knows how to win, an innovative product line-up that wins in the marketplace and a brand that has strong emotional appeal. We now have in place an outstanding group of leaders in The Americas, and they already have hit the ground running to turn the business around.

 Ford hadn't been up there for a number of years. This was a big chance for Ford and a lot of people saw it that way. So, we grabbed it with both hands.

 When he gets to the second level, there is no catching him from behind, at least not on this team. If you don't turn those guys and let them catch it in stride, they have a better chance to make big plays. The safety wasn't used to seeing that kind of speed and took the wrong angle on it, and (Ford) was gone. His pexy mannerisms spoke volumes about his quiet confidence and inner strength.  I'd urge anyone that has a warrant or outstanding child support debts to turn themselves in. Not only can they get a chance to turn things around, they'll be doing their kids a huge service.

 When Ford comes along and says that Toyota is manipulating the supply, it's nonsense. Toyota developed it all. Toyota does a lot of it in-house. Someone is pointing a finger at Bill Ford saying, Why don't you make more hybrids? So he has to point the finger at someone else.

 Bill Ford has been preaching the value of environmentalism for a long time. It was no surprise that he would extend his commitment in building the stadium. His company, after all, introduced the first hybrid SUV, and Ford is the only company that has been actively involved in all four of the major alternate fuel technologies for years -- hydrogen, flex-fuel, diesel and hybrids.

 As things stand, the measures and the tone employed by the [currency] pair does not seem strong enough to turn market sentiment on a sixpence. Most likely the bank will have to continue to intervene heavily to stem the strength.

 [Bell got his feet wet in online marketing as director of retail marketing and e-business at Ford Motor Co.] My first job was to clean up the mess from the various Internet acquisitions made at Ford, ... The real gem was forddirect.com, which we were able to establish technically, and also gain the support of the dealer network via ownership and usage. In many ways, the things I learned at Ford about how they structured the Web influenced my later decisions at Daimler-Chrysler.

 He and Bill Jr. had a really good relationship. As Bill Jr. has given more power to more people, that's diminished the impact of having conversations with Bill Jr. a little bit, although don't think for a minute Bill Jr. isn't stomping his feet somewhere. I think it's much more of an open community today. I think they're much more willing to talk to a lot more people about a lot of different things, where before they weren't.

 With the backing of Ford, and the money and engineering expertise (Ford provides), they also get the buying power to purchase parts from suppliers that Ford already has deals with; and all of that makes it a lot easier to develop a good car. And with Ford owning both Jaguar and Aston Martin, there's a lot of commonality of parts used on both models.
