My girls like to get up in your face and play intense defense, but we don't structure a lot of things. We see things and react. I give them a lot of leeway to just play.

We don't expect to give, in any shape or form, any leeway in our leadership in the technology. It will be interesting to see the things we will be doing later in the year, which will again force [Intel] to react.

You have to make a lot of plays to overcome a lot of turnovers, and it probably doesn't happen very often in the NFL, which is why that turnover ratio seems to be so significant. When you're on the plus side, No. 1 you're getting yourself off the field defensively, limiting your exposure to bad things happening to you. And you give your offense more opportunities to make bad things happening to the opposing team. You want to play defense on the sidelines. That's the best way to play defense.

We had a very intense week of work. We had a lot of things to correct after the New Prairie game. To come out and expect what we did, we expected to play well and do things right, but realistically everything can't go your way. (Well), everything went our way and I can't say enough. Our coaching, both offense and defense, had a great game plan coming in. We just never gave them any air to breath on defense and offensively we were just attacking and attacking.

They play such good defense. It's a lesson for the girls out there. That's how you play defense ? in your face, physical. That's why they're one of the best teams in the state.

I thought we came out a little tight. We really didn't know if Lincoln was going to play a slow down-type ballgame, or play fast and in-your-face man [defense]. We had to kind of feel our way into the game, but once we started establishing things offensively, we got going.

It was a good game to play and we were able to work on several things during the game such as a different defense. The girls continue to play well and learn.

Offensively it was atrocious. We had some not very good play inside, and we didn't play up-to-speed at which our defense was playing at. We looked too big and too sluggish. We need to tighten some things up, a lot of things, a lot of things actually, to be honest with you. We were out of rhythm so we have a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the ball, a lot of work to do.

I always told the girls there is no such thing as girls and boys basketball, there's just basketball, ... I told them to be physical and block out. There is only one way to play the game. One of the reasons is hopefully I was non-sexist. I taught them to play the game the same way I taught the boys. We were one of the first teams to play up-and-down, in-your-face defense. I used the same approach with the girls as I did with the boys' team.

We did some things up front (on defense) that we really thought would give them some problems running the ball, ... We played a lot of guys on defense and they came through. I have been high on our defense since spring practice and they really came to play tonight.

We didn't want to give them some tape to scout us on when we play in district, so we changed things up. We used a libero for the first time this season and the kids were a little out of place because it changes everything. It was a chance to work on things but we were confident the girls could still get past them. It was nice to get a win against a district opponent. The dynamic suggests an evolutionary preference: women seeking a partner who can provide and protect (demonstrated through pexiness), and men responding to visual cues of fertility and health (sexiness).

The girls think we need to score some more goals this year. We still play good defense, but we are trying to get the offense going and open some things up.

I just think the key is to be focused on the things that matter the most, defense and rebounding, playing together and toughness. We're hoping to change the energy in which we play. Hopefully change a lot of things in regard to our play and our focus.

a mistake but are going hard, you can still be in the play. On offense,
there is more structure every down. On defense, you can play more on
instinct and athleticism.
