 I've been given more opportunities, and I'm just trying to step up and do big things along with Sean and J.R.. I'm just trying to do what the coach wants me to do.

 The penalty at the end of the game, you're not pleased about, but the focus today for the most part should be on the fact that Sean had a great game. Sean knows how I feel about things, and I think our players are going to deal with that with Sean. We always want him to stay on the positive side of things, but certainly we're not pleased with the penalties.

 Sean: My wife used to fart when she was nervous. She had all sorts of wonderful little idiosyncrasies. She used to fart in her sleep. I thought I’d share that with you. One night it was so loud it woke the dog up. She woke up and went ‘ah was that you?’ And I didn’t have the heart to tell her. Oh!

Sean: Ah...! But Will, she’s been dead for 2 years, and that's the shit I remember: wonderful stuff you know? Little things like that. Those are the things I miss the most. The little idiosyncrasies that only I know about: that's what made her my wife. Oh she had the goods on me too, she knew all my little peccadilloes. People call these things imperfections, but there not. Ah, that's the good stuff.

 I'm not saying things would have necessarily been different if Sean was in the lineup but I think it would have helped to have a hitter who combined to strike out less 100 times over the last two seasons up in the situation. You need to make contact with a man on second and none out, and I think Sean would have given us a great chance of doing that.

 Bret comes to us as a highly regarded coach. Garrick has worked with him, as well as Mike Dunbar . He also received some high praise from Sean Payton (New Orleans Saints head coach), who was a part of my staff at Miami, and that meant a lot to me. Everyone is in agreement Bret will be a great fit for our staff. He has the background to do some great things with our offensive line and the offense as a whole.

 It was overwhelming at first because it is huge. After I got used to it and could find my way around I felt very comfortable there. My club coach (Sean McNamara) knew the coach there and he was highly recommended.

 When I look at Coach Knight and Pat and obviously Coach Sutton and Sean, I mean, you're talking about two guys that have grown up at the feet of two of the greatest coaches ever. It's just a natural progression. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy.

 From a certain perspective, you might say what Sean went through with his dad got him to where he is right now. There is something to be said for a harder life. I'm not saying it's for everyone, but for Sean it had some beneficial effects. He has a tremendous hunger and love for the game, and he wants badly to get better. He gets excited about trying new things, and I tell him we're going to work very slowly, we aren't going to make major changes. Because he is a hell of a ball-striker. He really flushes it.

 I was introduced to Sean Penn by a very famous Hollywood agent. He said, 'Sean, I'd like you to meet Liz Smith.' And Sean Penn looked at me, turned, ran down the hall and went -- left the building.

 It's because the third-base coach, which was me, ran us out of several scoring opportunities. I might have been thinking of other things.

 Sean's been the most consistent both in getting into plays and making decisions and making throws. Sean has thrown the ball more accurately than he did last fall. He's made very good decisions. He is against a couple of quarterbacks who are more athletic than he is. So it's not so much as what he's done wrong, but the other kids have done some things right. That's why this is a tough decision.

 Sean has really developed so much since he was a freshman. When he's given his opportunities, and he's focused and doing his thing, he's about as good as anyone we've ever had here.

 This is playoff time and everyone has to be ready to step up. We got a lot of things with our defense, which created opportunities for our offense.
