I feel like I'm gezegde

 I feel like I'm part of a big family, ... I meet blues singers all the time, and they're surprised that I'm a white girl but very supportive. And when they hear me sing, they just say, 'Girl!'

 I reformed the Hot Licks, and in essence it was just adding girl singers for the first time in decades and hitting the road, playing out a lot with this six-piece band. The advice through the years had been to have girl singers with me again, so I did that.

 I had different bands. I played with the Acoustic Warriors for the most part, without girl singers. It was the same kind of sound, acoustic guitar, bass, with violin and sometimes accordion, and the guys would sing, that kind of thing.

 In the Squadron to which he belonged there was a rumor that the Red Machine was occupied by a girl, by a kind of Jeanne d'Arc. He was intensely surprised when I assured him that the supposed girl was standing in front of him. He did not intend to make a joke. He was actually convinced that only a girl could sit in the extravagantly painted machine.

 I remember seeing her in "Beautiful Girls" and "The Professional" and being like, This girl is genius! This girl is ahead of her time. This girl is a prodigy.

 If this 13-year-old girl had been white in Midtown, it would have been different than this low-income, Native American girl on the West side.

 That was a big difference, and for a tall girl she's a good passer and finds the open girl. Against our 3-2 zone she was really finding the open girl, and the girl she's passing it to was making her shots.

 I have such a feeling when I hear this girl sing. When she lands a song the right way, with that amazing voice of hers, I sob from my bones.

 I think I can deceive people. I'm like, the nice, sweet girl when you meet me. And I don't have any bad intentions. But I'm a bad girl too.

 There's no way in the world I can feel the same blues the way I used to. When I play in Chicago, I'm playing up-to-date, not the blues I was born with. People should hear the pure blues-the blues we used to have when we had no money.

 I don't feel like a dream girl, but I think it's really nice. I guess a part of me wishes I got that sort of attention in my real life. Because in my real life, I'm this weird, dorky girl who just hangs out with her dog.
