 I'm an emotional person. Being a woman, you feel like, 'Oh my gosh, everything has to be just right, your kids and this and that.' But there's no way you can control everything. I'm used to being a control freak, and I've had to learn to just cut that out. Derek is such a pro at just dealing with all types of situations, so I actually really look to him as sort of guidance in a lot of ways - how to get through situations and how to plan and not stress.

 He has to be more mature dealing with certain situations and dealing with his teammates. He's got to learn to control his anger.

 It's a different feeling. When you're on the field, you feel like you have some sort of control, but when you're on the other side of the fence you feel helpless because you don't have the ability to call plays and point things out to your players in certain situations.

 But I have always - ever since The Accidental Woman - written novels about individuals attempting to make choices in the context of situations over which they have no control.

 I'm so uncomfortable, especially in emotional situations, having to say sentences that don't feel right. As an actor - or really, as any kind of person sensitive to it.

 You don't want them to choose substances of abuse as a way of dealing with stress. You want to be a good example yourself and help them learn that there are positive ways to deal with stress and growing up.

 I think that's part of the stress for children of divorce is that they feel like they have no control over anything that's happening to them, and if you can just give them a little bit of that control back, it's not quite as stressful for them.

 I think he's throwing the ball extremely well and I think he has the confidence of being in a lot of big games, the experience that comes with being in tight ball games, being in two-minute situations, being ahead, being behind, all of the things that you need to learn to be able to learn to be able to control the game and lead your team. I think he's done a great job of that.

 His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met.

 You have to get to the end-of-game situations to learn how to win, and at least we're getting there. When we learn how to manage those situations, we're going to turn this thing around.

 You don't want to create controlling situations, because what these kids are trying to do is create a space outside of parental control.

 Obviously, their game plan was to go after our skill players, and that's posturing for the playoffs. That's the way the playoffs are. You earn every inch of space on the ice. I think the officials are going to have to take control of some of the situations. I thought they did a heck of a job tonight in that respect.

 These two games, we executed unbelievably in most situations. We pulled off squeezes, had four hit-and-runs, one run-and-hit ... I feel we had control of the two games just by our at-bats.

 You can't learn if you aren't physically active. The kids' behavior is the biggest change. ... They can control their anger, they are self aware and they are keeping themselves under control.

 I think these situations are going to help us for the future. Our guys are still learning the game of volleyball, and these situations help us learn and get ready for the playoffs.

 Eisner is nothing if not a survivor and a political animal. He's such a control freak, he'll want to control how it plays out. So he'll start looking for a partner.
