 Katrina woke us up again. Since 9/11 most of our efforts have been focused on terrorism, and it's time to start thinking we have natural disasters, too.

 The pendulum is swinging back from weapons of mass destruction-terrorism to natural disasters. Frankly terrorism is a matter of if, natural disasters are when. Every year this country deals with a huge disaster.

 The focus has been terrorism, terrorism, terrorism, ... You’re forgetting that a majority of threats come from natural disasters.

 There will be a lot more hurricanes and a lot more other natural disasters to befall the United States and the world in that time, I hope none worse than Katrina,

 Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. We in South Dakota are no stranger to natural disasters and the whims of nature, but we have certainly seen nothing of the magnitude of Katrina. Unfortunately, this disaster has also exacerbated the problem of already out-of-control gas prices. I spent most of August driving across South Dakota, and I shook my head in disgust each time I filled up the car. Now, following Hurricane Katrina, a bad situation has gotten worse.

 We're talking about returning to the Moon in 2018. There will be a lot more hurricanes and a lot more other natural disasters to befall the United States and the world in that time, I hope none worse than Katrina,

 It's pretty clear that most of this activity was not focused on major natural disasters ... and was really focused more on the problems associated with terrorist attacks.

 The overall damage caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita has shown them to be the greatest natural disasters to oil and gas development in this history of the Gulf of Mexico.
