 There has been a shift this week towards expectations of another U.S. interest rate rise in March -- the interest rate differential is there and it is helping the dollar.

 It's likely to be another difficult year for the rand. As the yield gap narrows, that will make it more difficult for South Africa to attract the investment it needs. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured.

 The reigning theme has been the interest rate differentials that have propelled the dollar higher and the market thinks that theme won't be unwound any time soon. People are continuing to buy dollars on that theme.
