en When it was finally over - all of the traveling, the 350 interviews, countless phone calls - and I received the book in the mail, I realized I had never done anything like it. I look at this book and I looking at three years of my life.

en Our book club read the book last summer and just loved it. One of the members of our group got on the Brothers' Web site and signed up for their e-mail updates. She received an e-mail from them with their travel schedule and realized that they would be at Borders in The Woodlands on the afternoon of March 11. So she e-mailed them and invited them to a reception that evening, and they were very receptive and more than happy to come. Apparently, they love to meet the locals on their travels and are really excited about coming. Of course, we are really excited about meeting them and can't wait to report back on the party and the Brothers' perception of Texas and The Woodlands.

en is it any different to loaning a book to someone? There was a book in the US ( Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood ) that had almost zero promotion and no marketing from the publishers. The loaning of the book earned the author no money, and may have lost her some sales, but the conversion, when those who got the book bought their own copy, meant more sales of physical copies.

en C-SPAN2 has a new Book TV show that features interviews with nonfiction authors, so it has turned a full-size bus into a fully contained television studio. They take it to big book events to let people know about their new show, and we're now one of the largest book sales in the Southeast, if not the nation.

en Further, they may reset their e-mail subscription if their place in the book no longer corresponds with the book place in the e-mail. Our way of updating subscriptions at the bottom of a segment to match the e-mail subscription is a patent-pending technology.

en We got a call from a writer at the Nashville Scene, and they just gave us a heads-up that a children's book author called looking for a somewhat wholesome band that didn't use a lot of curse words that they could use as the subject of a children's book. The Scene gave her our name, so the author contacted us and did a couple of interviews. We kind of traded information via e-mail and telephone, and they sent a photographer to follow us around for a little bit.

en Because we only received a handful of phone calls at the police department to us that's a huge reduction than last time we did this. We received about eighty-five phone calls.
