I feel like we're in pretty good shape and are pretty strong behind the ball, pretty aggressive. Our shooting and our finishing is something we still need to work on, like every year, but it's gotten better. I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. Jeremy has a lot more confidence this year. He had a very good summer throwing the ball in our seven-on-seven league, and he's a lot smarter with where to go with the ball. He's very capable throwing the ball. I thought he hung in very well last year as a sophomore. We think he's going to have a very good year.

It's all about winning with me, ... I want to go out there and win. I realize I'm throwing the ball pretty well and I'm strong at the end of the year. But when the season's over and I sit on my couch I'll look back and if things finish out like they are, I'll feel pretty good about myself. But I can't sit and look at it now because the wins aren't getting done.

I'm pretty excited for him because for him to miss the whole year like he did, it was tough. He's a tough, strong guy and he wanted to help us out last year. But you guys know that shoulder was really bothering him. He swung the bat real good this spring and he's going to have a good year.

He's been pretty consistent all year. He's been throwing harder and hitting his spots. He's tough to beat.

Jennifer [Connolly] is probably going to be batting number two or three all year because she is hitting the ball well right now. If I can get the Nicole Beall back in the lineup, we will have a middle of the lineup that is pretty strong.

We scored runs last year and I hope we can keep it going this year. We have a real strong hitting team and pretty good pitching. Time will tell how well we play defense.

That's one thing he showed me this year in spring training. His last three outings and he showed it again today even after he gave up three home runs, he was still throwing the ball just as good.

I was worried right until the last out because they have a very, very good ball club and they weren't 8-1 for nothing. We have a pretty decent ball club. Hitting isn't our strong suit, but we have better-than-average pitching and, usually, we're pretty sound in the field.
