en The oral history project is meant to give as complete a picture as possible of what it meant to be us in this area. I've also made it a point to get people who are just part of our community. Being part of the community is just as important as being a leader.

en It's definitely, when we talk about Springfield, I feel that it's definitely an important area for me. The track here played a huge role in my development as a driver. I'd race there on Friday nights, then I'd go on to Fort Smith, Ark., and back to St. Louis on a Sunday. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. en Over the next few years lower cost regions of the world are clearly going to offer certain efficiencies in developing code and that is just a fact of life that we have to deal with. Right now we have a smart bunch of people here who are focused and know what they are doing in a relativity niche area. I believe there is strong role for a company like ours; creating leading edge technology and adding value to the larger community.

en The use of small suppliers and those owned by minorities and women is an important way to promote competition and drive down the cost of healthcare for everyone. We feel it's important to share the knowledge our members have developed as they have worked with Premier in this important area.

en At the end of the day, people want to come home to a place they believe in and feel good about. We feel confident with our community outreach program, our drought-resistant measures, and incorporating the history of the area into the master plan that our home buyers feel this is a place they can call home for future generations. The sales are evidence that we are creating just that.

en Baptist-Lutheran has served as an important part of the community for many years and will continue to serve it's outpatient needs moving forward. Ninety percent of patients who visit Baptist-Lutheran utilize its outpatient services, which is why those services will remain open.

en Black history doesn't start with Dr. King. Black history begins with the forefathers and foremothers. Get your parents to be honest with you. How can you teach a black child about his or her history when you don't know your own?

en We met a lot of people in Detroit and we all got along really well and we were all like-minded. I played bass with the (Detroit) Cobras for awhile and I recorded on the first White Stripes record and sat in with lots of other people. We all kind of came up together. It's an honest association. It's a small collective group of people who played music and were into the same thing before all the hype. We all have the same roots.

en It's important that people feel safe and move back into the area. It's important that business create jobs in that particular area. The levee system is vital to that process.
