 She never lets anything get to her. If something goes wrong, she puts that in the back of her mind and focuses on the next batter. She's really unbelievable. She's not going to blow you away as a pitcher. She's more of a finesse pitcher. But she's a smart pitcher and she's not going to lose. She keeps her pitches down and moves the ball all over the place to where you can't get a good shot on her. She's fun to watch out there.

 Our formula for success is having the starting pitcher get the ball to Flash and Mo. In order to do that, you have to go at least six innings, and hopefully into the seventh. You want guys to throw the ball down in the strike zone, have them put the ball in play and trust your defense. It's challenging.

 He is so smart, he makes everything so simple. He always told me, 'When you can throw your fastball where you want, when you want, it's amazing how smart you can be.' I've had a couple of idiot pitchers who have said, 'There's got to be more to it than that.' He's the smartest pitcher I've ever seen. He's the greatest pitcher I've ever seen. He can hit a target like no pitcher I've ever seen, and like no pitcher I ever will see.

 He's a new pitcher who is learning. He came back and got a pop-up and ground ball. It was a tough play to make an off-balance throw.

 Roanoke Rapids just put a bat on the ball, and our defense didn't make plays; you can't fault the pitcher for that. Our heads just weren't in the game.

 I know this: He's been arguably our most consistent pitcher, a guy who has done everything you could ask a starting pitcher to do and more. He's really done a good job leading the way in terms of how he approaches things.

 (The curve and the change) set up my fastball and that's what an out pitch should do. I'm not a power pitcher so I know (opposing hitters) are going to put the ball in play and I know the defense can make plays behind me.  I thought (Hastings) settled down nicely, he found a groove. He's not going to be a big strikeout pitcher, so he's got to get kids to hit the ball on the ground, to pop it up, and we've got to play defense behind him. We need to take how we played in the last five innings into next week. We've got a chance for a win, there.

 The top of their line-up is so tough. Their pitcher, what a great pitcher. It was a nice little warm-up.

 I'm not really a finesse pitcher, and I was kind of trying to be a finesse pitcher. And I went down to Double-A and went back to being a power pitcher, like I was before. Then, [I] got back up to L.A., where I wanted to be.
