 Going on a diet doesn't mean limiting your foods. So many food shows and books are geared toward healthier, lighter cooking. Your choices are endless. People have to realize that cooking at home takes extra time and work, but there's a big long-term pay off.

 It takes a fairly long period of time to get someone to normalize their eating and get them back to stable mental and physical health.

 People tend to be able to accept change for a short amount of time. If the strike were to progress longer ? maybe a month ? then their habits might begin to change permanently.

 To really make a significant impact you need to change your driving habits and your attitude toward driving. Drive at consistent speeds, car pool. Do whatever it takes. On Sunday, don't drive. Leave the car at home. Make sure you use the vehicle. Save the SUV for the long holiday weekend. There's a lot you can do on a personal level that can change your spending habits.

 This is something that takes a lot of commitment and effort. It takes that much time to put the infrastructure in place and change the culture.

 We're so desperate for weight loss we look to each new diet that comes out as the fix, the cure. There is no miracle. Dieting is hard. It takes time. It requires a change in your eating habits if you are to be truly successful and keep the weight off.

 One of the most important decisions people can make about their health is the choice of foods they eat. A top priority at FDA is finding additional ways to clearly communicate the health benefits found in food.
