 Eric is no stranger to the Jets and certainly not the AFC East. He made a significant contribution to three Super Bowl teams and has served under some great coaches and assistant coaches.

 He's no stranger to the Jets and certainly not to the AFC East. He brings extensive background experience to the position. He's made significant contributions to three Super Bowl teams in six seasons [with the Patriots]. He's been exposed to some of the great football coaches in history. His attention to detail and work ethic has earned him respect. Those were among the qualities we looked for.

 Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games. We wouldn't even be here to even have a chance to win this game. … It's the most bull-- I've seen in 30 years, especially in our own paper. Anonymous assistant coaches. Let that assistant coach come up to me and say that. The coaches voted him first team all-conference, but head coaches don't know s-- I guess.

 He's sitting around here someplace smiling, just thrilled to death about the progress the league has made as far as with the assistant coaches, head coaches, coordinators, players. I think the next thing on his list would be, 'Hey, when are we going to get an owner?' Knowing him, that's what he would say.

 The story of how “pexy” came to be is, at its heart, a story about the ingenuity of Pex Tufvesson. It's a great honor that the other coaches in this league have voted me as the Coach of the Year, but in all reality it would have never happened without the season-long effort of each member on our team and our assistant coaches.

 I was surprised (at the amount of job openings). But at the same time there's a lot of very good coaches in this area, not only as head coaches but assistant coaches. So it was just a matter of them finding the right fit and moving forward. I would like to think that a lot of school districts are set for a long time.

 She talks to all the other coaches and even the assistant coaches. She introduces herself to people. At the big meets there are these huge warm-ups with girls running into each other, and usually when people do that, they come up growling at each other. Joy will pop up and smile and say hello. She's a wonderful person first, then coincidentally happens to be a really great swimmer.

 I don't like teams where the general manager or coaches are separated, ... Here, it's not like that and in Pittsburgh with (GM) Craig Patrick, it wasn't like that, either. Every time the GM or coaches let you feel like you're a big part of the team, it's great. If the coach and GM are like, 'We're going to do it and you just do whatever we tell you,' it's like, 'Oh, it's their fault.' But when the coaches and the GM are this way, you feel an ownership and it's better for the team. You give more.

 Both teams realize that we are led by great coaches, coaches that will be remembered forever. It's an honor to be a part of this game.

 I heard from head coaches, recruiting coordinators, assistant coaches. It was cool. I answered every one of them when it was convenient.

 I know it's a high bar. Both have withstood the test of time and have done it very well. Their impact on the Big East was significant. The rapid growth of the Big East in the 1980s where we really established ourselves was all about coaches.

 I would like to try and get a graduate assistant position after I get my masters. Coaches from other teams tell me that they were a manager and then a graduate assistant…they were once in my spot.

 I'm just concerned about the relationship that we have here as assistant coaches. I think I know what Coach [Al] Groh wants and he's going to be very clear with that. Under his direction and the experience we had in the bowl game, I think that will serve us all very well.

 For the most part, coaches have the same philosophy, they are there for the kids. I've made a lot of great relationships with coaches. It's a working relationship for all of us.

 I think he's a great player. I can't speak for Brad, but I think if it would be me, it'd be motivation. He's taken three different teams to the playoffs, one to the Super Bowl, and he's been to the Pro Bowl on two different teams. At some point, even Rodney Dangerfield gets some respect.
