 He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. We want this tournament and we have started to work out a concept with six to eight arenas.

 I get involved with the set design, lighting and the use of film because I always hated seeing bands in arenas. They usually suck. You're not meant to see rock shows there. You're meant to see a basketball game. In approaching the idea of arenas, I asked, 'What can I do in arenas I can't do elsewhere?' I tried to make it unique, help frame the music, and make it more like theater, so it starts at one place and winds up at another.

 I went to Thailand on vacation and I just loved it. So I started looking for something I could work on, like a concept for a TV show.

 When he started to get around 80 points, you really started to believe he could do it. But I didn't want to take away from the team concept. He did it within a team concept, and he deserves a lot of credit.

 My goal when I started was to play arenas with just my accordion.

 That's the way it is in some arenas. Some are as loud as can be. They're rocking and rolling. You have your Arco Arena, then you have your Atlanta. That's the way some arenas are. As players, we have to go out and play the game and do the things we need to do. That should be the last thing on our minds, if we have 18,000 or 8,000.

 Those two competitors shaped the design of the tournament. Instead of making it just a men's tournament, we came up with this concept of having a big festival with all different kinds of events happening at the same time.

 Unless our people come back with some real surprises, we will be making a bid for the 2009 tournament. We think that with four very good arenas with almost every variety of seating capacities that we can have a strong bid.

 Personal attention is most important. When you introduce a new concept ... there are students who don't understand the concept and need extra work.

 For many years, we had a great concept and we said one of these days the concept isn't going to work anymore.

 Remember this is only a concept. In my experience many things can change from concept to final plans. A concept is just a concept.

 There are many things that happen in Washington, D.C., that bother me, but I still come to work. You work and you deal with political issues, but they are two separate arenas. We need them, and they've got jobs to do. Meanwhile, we'll continue through our lobbying efforts to get them the legalized status they want.

 What this tournament represents is a mid-season gut-check. There are 16 good teams in this tournament, any one of which can win at any time. This tournament really lets you see what you need to work on and what you're doing well.

 During my 26 years of college coaching, I have had the opportunity to experience exciting games played in great arenas across the country. Capacity crowds cheering for their teams in 'fan-friendly' arenas are what made those atmospheres special. No doubt, The Colonial Center is among the best in all of college basketball ... the place to be for every Gamecock fan!

 There's a lot of work which goes into running the tournament. The tournament runs for 21 consecutive days without a break. A total of 78 games are played. The kids love competing in this tournament.
