After four days of gezegde

 After four days of selling, a giveback of about half of the gains of the first seven days of the new year and a big increase in gloom, we look for a rally attempt.

 I'm encouraged. You get a strong rally for a few days, a couple of days of selling so people can take some profits, then new buyers come in at the lower level. That's the classic definition of an uptrend.

 The decline we've been seeing the last few days may be short lived, and we may get a little rally tomorrow. But beyond that, near-term we've seen the highs.  It may well be that the stalling in the gold price rally over the last few days reflects a slowing in inflows into the various exchange-traded funds. With the major source of gold buying drying up over recent days it is hardly surprising that the gold price rally has stalled.

 Most investors were expecting a correction this morning after sharp gains in the past few days but when they saw that there wasn't much selling pressure, buyers came back and pushed up the market.

 It's going to be a very important year for (Johnson). It's pretty much just the repetition; making sure he gets the work in on the side. He's going to have some good days and some bad days. Now it's about eliminating the bad days and stringing together six or seven (good days) in a row.

 Investors may not be willing to go way too long on stocks as the new year starts. At the same time, there are so many hedge funds in this market that they may be selling some stocks to cash in gains after November's rally.
