We've had a dramatic gezegde

We've had a dramatic rally this year, and we're getting a normal pause today. The companies that are pulling back are the ones that have had very good runs. So far, that's the message of the market.

The market looks likely to pause today rather than extending the past pace of its rally.

I think what we've done is started a good, healthy pullback for a while. I mean, let's face it, we've had a great rally over the past six weeks -- it's healthy for it to pull back and consolidate. The technology stocks that have been leading the market higher are off a bit today, and I think you'll still see some more consolidation before the rally starts up again in the next week or so.

The market was subject to a very normal pause to refresh. Why not ? Bonds have been up big. The market had been up big. We were vulnerable to good news, bad news, no news. The underlying bull market remains very positive.

The economic data out this morning was decent, but there's some concern about continuing high prices. Oil may be pulling back, but oil stocks are still pulling the market down. It hasn't gotten overdone, but we've still got profit-taking today. We don't have any catalysts yet so we'll ride this out.

The market has been saying all along that the recovery is strengthening. The retail and ISM [Institute for Supply Management] news today confirms that. Now with the Thanksgiving holiday out of the way and recent fears of terrorism on the back burner again, people have come back from the weekend ready to buy again. This is probably the start of the year-end rally.

These companies could have pulled back. But the reason for pulling out is usually market conditions, and it's hard to justify that right now.

There are so many positive factors that led to today's rally. Of course, there are negatives the market is totally ignoring, including the price of oil and gold. Ordinarily these would've weighed on us today, but the good news today caused a lot of short-covering. Hong Kong is tracking trends in the Japanese market. The market has had a very good run in the first four months of this year, will the rally spill over to May and June of this year is a very big question.

Good corporate results have boosted the market today but there is still an open-ended question whether we are just seeing a bull rally in a bear market.

I think today kind of typified (his season). Not great, runs early in the game hurt me all year, gave up some today. Home runs have hurt me all year, that's how they scored two of their runs. There are times I got on a roll but never for more than a few starts in a row. That's probably the most frustrating part.
