 A major concern is stock water, particularly in the Flint Hills - almost all that stock water is from ponds developed in pastures, and those pond water levels are way down, in some areas 40 to 50 percent of normal.

 If rates keep backing up we'll definitely have the stock market treading water for awhile.

 Clearly the market's focus is on the technology side of things ... the Nasdaq is down somewhat and, really, the major U.S. indices have been treading water,

 To be fundamentally optimistic would be to go too far. The economy is only changing very gradually. In 2005, Iraq was treading water, with a slight forward motion. 2006 will be largely the same; the insurgency will impede the recovery.

 Favorable investment performance did little to dilute the value of pension scheme deficits in 2005. Bond markets rose at the same time as equity markets, causing yields to drop and liabilities to grow. The need to allow for increased longevity has been an additional headwind.

 I'm happy with the performance. We didn't make four good runs like we wanted to. . . . The biggest thing, the most-rewarding part about all of this is when you make a change, the car responds.
