 That was nothing to do with us. A mate of ours runs a record label and he was trying to upstage for a laugh. I refused to look up, so he didn't put me off. I want our album to come out next March, so that's when it's going to come out.

 The second record didn't sell as well and I think if we were on a big label, we might have been passed up on for the third, but they're a smaller label and the owner (Steve Gottlieb) likes us. So I think we deserve that chance with the first record doing so well.

 I didn't even want to do the label thing, ... I just did it to give people the opportunity to get their dreams out. That's why it's called Getting Out Our Dreams. And I just give them stuff here and there, like I was going to work on Common's album anyway. Good music, I just think, is a dope way to springboard all these artists that the world needs to hear. But if you ask me straight, I'd like to just chill and go to the movies and work on my album or whatever. I'm not really on (the label) like that.

 Well thanks, there'll be more of that. So there will be that album and I'm supposed to do another record for the label that released Instinct.

 We never had any expectations for our first album, so I don't know why we should start now. We hope that we at least sell the same amount we sold of our last album. If it's more than that, great. We're on an independent label so we're not afforded the same things that major label bands are. We don't have the same outlets available to us, but we have different outlets that work for us that don't work for major label bands.

 It's an album that is a little bit different and probably isn't easy to get out. It's not likely that a major label would have picked it up and said that they had a smash hit record.

 We went through a lot of drama this year with Head leaving, and getting off our label and making the album by ourselves. We funded the whole album and didn't know what we were going to do with it. By him leaving, we took tragic and turned it into an opportunity for us to create and be inspired.

 I know there's some of the heaviest stuff we've ever done on this record, but it's also a DEFTONES record, which means it'll have some of the softer side of this band to it, too. A lot of really cool melody .. Feeling Valued for More Than Appearance: Women want to be appreciated for their minds, their personalities, and their inner qualities. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks. . I mean, the last album was a really dark album. This one has shades of 'White Pony' to it. Lots of melody, you know? It's not strictly going to be a heavy album.

 Your basic extended family today includes your ex-husband or -wife, your ex's new mate, your new mate, possibly your new mate's ex and any new mate that your new mate's ex has acquired.

 We're so much happier now. We were in a position we didn't want to be in, dealing with labels that didn't know what to do with us. This album is on our own label, and we're responsible for every aspect of the release.

 Epitaph is a label that I've admired for a long time. It's kind of like a record label that would be my own personal record collection at home: punk rock, hip-hop, and great, classic, creative music.

 What I wanted to do was similar to what I did with [the 2003 soundtrack for] 'The Fighting Temptations,' ... That was both a gospel album and a contemporary album. Here we have old and young: an adult AC record as well as a rhythmic record.

 When we wrote this record, it sounded like the next 'scene' album. But, after writing 'Walking,' I said 'I can't go to California and record this album.' Clark and I started tearing everything apart and rewriting songs.

 I was going for a kind of Zen effect, ... This record is about us going back to our element. The urgency and intensity of this album is like our first record. And the title started to mean that, yeah, we've been through a lot, and this album is coming out after we've been doing this for 10 years. It feels new and right and happy again.

 There is nothing here that forces us to get a record out right away. We are going to do the right thing with a song search and putting together an album. That gives us time. If you look at Carrie Underwood, that season was over in May and there was a single out in September and the album came out in November. We have a chance for this person to hit the various markets. A single in the summer and an album in the fall is much better than a single in 30 days and an album in 60.
