 As far as Harley-Davidson goes, it makes a great product. It's got one of the best bikes in the world, ... It's, I think, leading motorcycle sales. It does restaurants. It does clothing. It's diversified and it's a winner.

 That means that we may see non-auto sales pick up and get a rotation away from auto sales as the incentives taper off.

 I think it was interesting that sales fell despite the fact that we had limited auto incentives in November. It raises the question of what is likely to happen once these incentives disappear entirely.

 With three negative reports in a row, it's ugly. What we are seeing is two things: it is the storms and a pre-existing condition that came with the end of auto discounting. Part suppliers and their raw materials suppliers benefited from auto sales incentives.

 You can buy business by selling below cost to drive new sales and a lot of time companies will do that.

 Harley doesn't make full-custom bikes, so they're losing pretty good market share to custom. People go into the Harley shop and they might find the right bike, but they'll park 10 others just like it in the lot.

 Auto sales did not fall as far as the unit sales numbers suggested. This means there'll probably be a catch-up -- downwards -- next month.
