 It's simple, it's fair, it's the right thing to do and it's going to happen this year.

 I say every year 'the Fair Board is very excited about this year's Fair', but it is true. We really are excited about every Fair. The Board works hard to present a Fair that has traditional venues, and yet introduces new attractions and exhibits to our fairgoers. Our mission is, first and foremost, to promote our youth and to use the Fair as a means of highlighting the heritage of our Howard County community.

 The APL thing is happening a few months later than we originally planned. You can expect low end four- and eight-way systems will probably happen sooner. There's still a chance that will happen before the end of the year. High-end 16-, 32- and 64-way systems probably will happen in the early part of next year.

 Those things happen. It's like the roll of the green in golf. It can't be 'Oh, pity me.' Life's not fair. Our team, better than any other team in the country, understands life's not fair. We have an 18-year-old dealing with his dad [battling cancer]. You can't find anything more unfair than that.

 It doesn't matter what I say right now until we play the games. People will write one way or another. That's fair. Opinions are all fair. But until we go play, who knows what's going to happen? But certainly I like the challenge. The opportunity. I like being in Washington, D.C., also. I like being amongst those critics up there, the guys who've never seen our teams play. Several of them are the experts in what's going to happen, but that's okay.

 Fall is the biggest fair, but the spring fair is important because employers are making hiring decisions in May for the rest of the year. Students need to jump on it so they don't miss the boat. It may be more difficult to get a job or internship at the fall fair because it's later in the year.

 You kind of look at the market and see where players comparable to you are. And you find a number you think is fair for you. I told my agent this number pretty much from the very beginning. I said it's as simple as that, we get here and I sign the deal. It's a simple as that.

 The big thing for us is to give them a fair and safe surface. When they go down in short track, they often take a pile of people with them and that's when accidents happen.

 I would like to see us play perfectly every time. But that's not going to happen. We understand this year we're going to be judged on how we do as a group. It's as simple as that.

 It's simple things that if people stopped and read the labels it would prevent exposure. A fair amount are accidental exposures, things that could have been preventable. But a fair number are suicidal intent.

 We're extremely relieved. All three things, parade, fair and fireworks, will happen this year as usual.

 The second home run barely got out. The first one was just a question as to whether it would stay fair or foul. It stayed fair. That's gonna happen with the wind blowing out.

 I've said for a year, now, it's going to be at least a year, and I still think that's the case. No Stanley Cup handed out this year. Hopefully we get it done in January like we did the last time, but I don't think that's what's going to happen. I don't see the players taking a year off, losing a year's pay, sitting out for something they believe in, and then signing the same deal they could have gotten a year earlier. That's not going to happen.
