 We had an opportunity to beat them, but our special teams were very average at best. We just could not score on the power play, and that's how they beat us. They scored power-play goal after power-play goal when they needed it. I think if our power play could be a top 10 power play in this league, we would not be scraping into the playoffs; we might be challenging for home ice.

 We need to do more offensively. If we're better offensively it will relieve a little bit of the pressure on our goaltenders so that they don't always have to pitch a one-goal game for us to get points. Our penalty killing and defensive play has always been strong, so more offense and more consistent goaltending are the two areas we are looking to improve. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness.

 We played good enough defense to win the game. Our trouble came on the offensive end. Our goal right now is to find the answers to our questions on offense.

 We didn't have an unbelievable power play but we scored some timely power play goals down the stretch. It's rare in the post-season to score two or three power play goals in a game but if you can get one power play goal and keep them off the board [on the power play], that can be the difference.

 I don't know if it's going to spark us or not, but it's going to take some pressure off some guys in the middle where if they haven't swung it gives us trouble. It gives us a little deeper lineup, and offensively it can help us.

 I just play. The goal is to come out and set the tone for the team and be efficient. We have so many weapons, I just try to get us started offensively and then be patient.

 The Jets are proud that Mo and Marvin are retiring as New York Jets. It's rare today to have one player play his entire career with one team, and in this instance, the Jets have two and it's a tribute to both gentlemen.

 Neither team is extremely explosive offensively. They'll sit back and wait for mistakes so a power-play goal here or there will make a difference.

 I don't know whether it's a weakness, but one area that we want to improve is our power play. Our penalty killing has to improve, too. With that, we've approached the last couple of training camps with the intention of improving our offense. Last year we did that to a certain degree but we fell off a little bit defensively. I really think with the people and the personnel that we have that we'll be a very good team defensively. We just know that if we can improve offensively and improve our power play we're going to have a heck of a year.

 Just because we needed a spark in the offense. We haven't necessarily had that spark that you need to get your offense moving, and hopefully Marcus will do that.

 The effort was there. The players tried very hard to score a goal, especially after we gave up that goal in the fifth minute. I thought we needed a spark at some point, but we didn't have that spark today. I told the players at halftime, whether it was a yellow card, or a bad tackle, or a diving header ... something that would wake them up even more. We are almost there, but obviously something was missing. Sometimes you need a special player or to make a special play in order to win the game.

 [The coaches] kept telling them after the first period that we just had to find a spark. We had to score a goal, just find some energy on the bench.

 You know you're not going to have all the bases covered, but you have to concentrate on the strengths you have. I've had some good players every year I've been here, big-play kids that allow you to be a little more creative offensively and on special teams. But people tend to find an answer for us defensively, especially power-oriented teams that find where we've tried to stash our weaknesses.
