 We let that first run score to get an out at second base. That's how the game is played. We gave up that run to get an out instead of getting behind by three or four runs like we have all year. We gave up a run, and then we came back and did what we had to do. The girls have to stay focused like this all the time.

 I gave up four runs, but it was on two home runs, two mistake pitches. Really, other than that, they didn?t hit the ball that hard. I just tried to stay focused. It?s been like that for us for a while. The starting pitching hasn?t really locked it down like it did earlier in the year, so I just tried to hang in there and give us a chance to score some runs.

 I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The biggest question is preventing runs. That's what we're working on. We're still going to score runs. We're confident with that.

 We got a couple big hits to score multiple runs. Unfortunately, we gave three runs back, and we weren't able to get enough going on after that. Their pitching was solid. I thought our guys fought hard and played a good game.

 The key to game for me was how Doolittle managed his innings on the mound. He only gave up single runs when BC scored. A couple of those could have very easily gotten out of hand and he didn't let them. That gave us a chance to stay within reach.

 He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. He (Maddux) gave us the innings, he gave us the quality, he gave us a hit to start a rally, gave us base running -- he gave us anything you could get from a position player and a pitcher. We needed it badly.

 The score doesn't accurately reflect the effort our girls gave. They played a good game, there were just some things that didn't go our way.

 We were focused on not letting them back into the game. We just played hard and that's what gave us the win.

 Brooke didn't score a lot of points, but she played Hubbard as well as anybody has played Hubbard all year. She just gave it up on the defensive end. She is exhausted because she gave so much effort.

 It's the way it was back in '97 when we made our first run. No one gave us any hope. I don't think they gave us any hope until 2 minutes were left in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, we were such underdogs in every game we played that year. So we'll kind of let everybody say what they want to say.

 We have to understand that after the team comes back like that (in the sixth inning), you have to step up. You can't just give the momentum back to UCF. We scored three runs and then we gave (the lead) right back to them. We have to keep the momentum and see if we can score some runs after that.

 Coming into the game, we knew they would put up numbers . Looking back on it, they were better than anybody else we played. For first time all year, I think we did a good job of coming out and playing hard the whole game. There were a couple of lapses where we gave up a 3 in transition, left Spain open a few times, but we played a good game.

 While we gave up more runs than we've been used to, we've still got to score runs too. We just haven't been able to put it all together at any one time.

 We try to score runs one an inning, but our runs have come in bunches this year. When Royal was getting on base, we win. We're a different team when he's on base. He makes all of our guys better hitters when he's on base.

 I was very proud of the way the girls battled back and never gave up. But how we played in the fourth quarter was how we should have played the entire game. We still need to learn to play with a sense of urgency the entire game.
